Why do people say it's not a deal, random guess some lower value but don't bother to post a link to such a "deal"? If this name-brand prebuilt PC should be under $800 then LINK IT to an exact spec unit that is name-brand prebuilt in stock for delivery for under $800!

4.7 (out of 5.0) average review with 77 reviews on Best Buy doesn't sound horrible.

Worse, it's the 8GB 4060Ti. Really, that should knock it down to under $800

Maybe the R14 or below...

I have had an R15 for 1 year with a 4090 and ZERO heating issues. They changed the airflow on the R15 and mine has never even gotten hot under full load gaming.

The R16 is a newer smaller case, so we'll have to see. Not sure why they've dumbed down the case but maybe to make it more standard?

Cheers,

Bub
Yeah, R14. R15 actually was the first time in years that Dell started making changes that helped cooling. But the "volume reduction" is in reference to the aesthetic plastics around the case. They removed that and reduced total volume by ~40%. Internal volume is unchanged.

No doubt though, the Aurora R6 all the way to R14 is where cooling was most problematic (Same with XPS 8910 to 8940, since they share the same base chassis). R15 (along with the XPS 8950) actually added more internal volume. I think they added bigger fans and even top fans back as well, which is nice.

I honestly think the case looks nice. More of a modern-simplistic look, but something you can throw on your desktop and it'll fit. Once that PC turns into ewaste, just think of all the plastic that isn't getting tossed into a landfill. Probably 1500 straws worth, at least. Stick Out Tongue

Everything's a bad deal if you know how to build computers but obviously that's not who prebuilts are marketed towards

It's the video card that pushes the system to over $1k. The system technically has no shortcomings.
I would say 16g of RAM is a shortcoming IMHO

The power supply should be adequate but at the same time, I don't think anyone here would build a PC with this CPU and GPU with a 500w power supply

Peak usage during gaming you're looking at what, 400w or so used? Granted, gaming alone probably wouldn't max it out not sure but it doesn't help that it actually has a good cooling solution. if it doesn't thermal throttle, 1080p might see you approaching 400w.

Hmm. Coming up at 1199.99 now. Am I missing a step to "seal the deal" ? 🤷

Honestly this PC isnt bad for this price, but the GPU is the bottle neck. While it will perform wonderfully at 1080p, you will see how that 8Gbs are limiting you once you try to do 1440p or 4k gaming.

Dunno, you can sometimes get fantastic hardware deals in bundles/prebuilt. Especially for specific video cards.

That case looks like a giant heat trap. Where is the front fan?

Don't expect any customer service from Dell. I've had several problems with my Aurora and they are worthless.
