I have had an R15 for 1 year with a 4090 and ZERO heating issues. They changed the airflow on the R15 and mine has never even gotten hot under full load gaming.
The R16 is a newer smaller case, so we'll have to see. Not sure why they've dumbed down the case but maybe to make it more standard?
Cheers,
Bub
No doubt though, the Aurora R6 all the way to R14 is where cooling was most problematic (Same with XPS 8910 to 8940, since they share the same base chassis). R15 (along with the XPS 8950) actually added more internal volume. I think they added bigger fans and even top fans back as well, which is nice.
I honestly think the case looks nice. More of a modern-simplistic look, but something you can throw on your desktop and it'll fit. Once that PC turns into ewaste, just think of all the plastic that isn't getting tossed into a landfill. Probably 1500 straws worth, at least.
Peak usage during gaming you're looking at what, 400w or so used? Granted, gaming alone probably wouldn't max it out not sure but it doesn't help that it actually has a good cooling solution. if it doesn't thermal throttle, 1080p might see you approaching 400w.
