Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

Premiun Plus
MSRP (negotiable) $36,500.00

Lug Nuts and Wheel Locks (negotiable) $225.00

Interior Lighting Kit (negotiable) $350.00

Rear Bumper Guard (negotiable) $135.00

Cargo Cover (negotiable) $250.00

Delivery Fee (non-negotiable) $1,375.00

Total Sticker Price $38,835.00

Friends and Family discount -$2,600.00
Mazda Loyalty discount -$500.00
Total Price of Car (This probably where your bread and butter is in terms of where you can negotiate) $35,735.00

Sales Tax (obviously non-negotiable) $2,263.73
Doc Fee (admitted probably on the high side, maybe negotiable) $499.00
Title Fee (non-negotiable) $75.00
Inspection Fee (non-negotiable) $35.00
Registration Fee (non-negotiable) $60.00
$38,667.73 (All these mandatory fees added basically equals the total list price haha)

I asked for free weather mats and got it at the end

Might be worth asking for a few extra free oil change coupons as well

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

Got a 22 CX5. So many little quality of life things I hate.
  • Remote start is app only, not on keyfob (and it goes subscription based after a few years). The difference between grabbing my keys and hitting the remote start button, vs getting out my phone, unlocking it, opening the app, hopefully the facial rec works, otherwise enter my password (every time), dismiss any 'notifications' (like "deals") then press and hold the start button. Which will send the command via the cloud, so it might take a few minutes, or just not work at all.
  • Hate the lack of a touch screen, and the controls and clunky for radio etc.
  • Navigating the screen is challenging as you only have a scroll wheel to move around the screen, at it's often frustratingly unintuitive what item is 'next' when you scroll.
  • Remote start turns off as soon as you open the door,
  • you can't leave it running and lock it with the keys in your hand (running inside the gas station or whatever).
  • The 'hold' feature puts the parking break on if you unbuckle your seatbelt before turning the car off, even if it's in park first (so you have to go park, turn off engine, unbuckle seatbelt. Otherwise, the next time you start the car, the parking brake will unexpectedly be on.
  • Car will auto lock if you get 0.04 inches away from it, but if you open the tailgate, it won't auto lock. So walking around the car you'll have to unlock it again, but if you grab something from the back and walk away, it'll stay unlocked. Exactly the opposite of what I'd prefer.

Just lots of nit-pics that will likely prevent me from buying another one.
So like 0 of the things I find important, we are all so different 😂

I assume that is in California and not relevant to the rest of the world?
rest of world?
i am not aware rest of world uses US system for car registration? (and US has not been the largest auto market for quite some time, EV or ICE)

but in the US? yes, model Y follows F150 in new vehicle registration

https://www.kbb.com/car-news/tesl...strations/

people vote with their wallet, not their voice ( and certainly not post on slickdeals). as much as i dislike F150 and think it is not practical for vest amount of people, there is a huge market for it, and i have to admint F150 was and is still the most successful vehicle for decades.

honestly i am puzzled by amount of interest generated by madaza in this post. if only madaza's sale enjoy is even 1 percent of the internet fame they receive, they would not be where they are today.

Jeez, I really want the 2.5 turbo model, but it's not an $8000 premium for that which is insane.

It used to be that getting the higher turbo/etc model on most of these cars was a $3000-$4000 upgrade.

Gas mileage does suck on these though.

Serious question - why would you get this over a model y? 33k after tax credit?

You only get the "rebate" if you owe $7,500 in taxes. It's not like you're getting a check for any of that amount. Not even a penny. And your household income has to be less than $300k.
Ya I don't qualify as a single earner because the cutoff is only like $225k or something. Sounds like a lot of money but it's really NOT in high cost of living cities where a mortgage now costs $5000-$6000/month.

Ummm so many reasons?
1. Maybe people need an SUV not a sedan
2. Many people live in places where a charger at home isn't possible (apartments)
3. Many people don't qualify for the $7500 tax credit

Nah, just messing with you. I'm about as politically incorrect as you can get. Looks like I triggered you, LOL.
Have a good one.

What kind of mileage are you seeing? I get about 25-26 in my 22 signature

Reading too much FUD media is bad :-)

Tesla has made big improvement since 2021.
Have you ever seen any car that gets better AFTER purchased? Tesla sends out OTA software updates frequently and adds more features to their car, just like iPhone/iPad.

You should check out their latest. I guarantee you'll buy one after a test drive.
Yep, this is very true. Too bad so many people have been brainwashed with FUD. Did a test drive a couple months back and ordered one within a week. Strongly recommend!

I bought two Lexus in the last five years and despite putting a combined 70,000 miles on the two cars, each one is now worth the same as I paid for it.

Two takeaways :
1) Continue buying quality
2) inflation sucks

1) lack of ability to charge at home
2) not everyone qualifies for tax credit
3) build quality on a Tesla is horrendous. Ask me how I know.

Cx-50 will replace CX5, guaranteed. CX-5 and CX-50 are identical vehicle. Only difference is that CX-50 has been to actually handle lot better on the road....thus why they reduced the height while increasing the wheel base and it's width. It's all about making crossover SUV handle better.

CX-5 off-road capability is completely irrelevant. 99.9999999% of CX anything never leaves pavement.
I'd argue that the majority of CUVs/SUVs NEVER leaves the pavement.
