I have a few snow Joe tools and one of the tools and one of the batteries crapped out. It was a tire inflator, less than a year old used maybe 3 times at most. I contacted the company and they told me that they we're out of stock, that I had to send the broken stuff back and they would give me a gift card for a unknown amount 🤦. I keep asking how much and they refused to tell me the amount. So in my opinion THEY ARE SKETCHY / LOW QUALITY AND I WOULD NOT SPEND $600 ON THEIR JUNK.

Beware. Every single battery powered snowjoe product I've had has failed, and always after the warranty ends. This includes 2 blowers, 1 cordless chainsaw, 1 powered snow shovel, and 5 snowblowers. A few years ago there was a nice sale on all this stuff, and I bought a lot of them for my family to replace gas powered equipment. SnowJoe was no help because I did not buy their extended warranty. So if you are considering this blower, please factor in their extended warranty cost into the price

While I would say their warranty service is eager to fix the problem, they don't actually have parts or even your model in stock to help. (Read reviews and people will mention the same thing) My handle broke and they didn't have the part and said they would likely never have it. They offered to replace the entire blower which was nice but they also didn't have my model and I had to step down to a lower model. I wasn't very pleased about that. They shipped the new one to me on their dime and paid to ship the old one back which a lot of places don't do so that was nice.

Agreed. I have gone through 3 of their battery snowblowers. They kept replacing my unit because it would fail under battery power year after year. Finally threw it in the trash and got myself an EGO.

Have never been happier with the EGO

I bought greenworks dual stage, self propelled 80v for 1700 from costco.. Now i am wondering if that was a mistake, this is way cheaper and seems like will do equivalent job. Someone please guide 🙏 what is the difference ? Should we return and get this one ?
I mean bestbuy was selling that greenworks model for 1399 Black Friday week so yes you made an error IMO

I purchased the Ego 24" 2 stage with 2x 7.5Ah batteries a few weeks ago at $1399 ($100 off). Wondering if anyone has experience with the unit I bought compared to this as we haven't had a snowstorm yet.

I'm in MN where we typically see a dozen 1-2' storms each season, and I'm transitioning from a gas 30". My driveway is about 8 cars, so my concern with any electric snowblower is battery capacity.

I have a 4ah ego battery already, which helps my concern. I'm also making the switch so I can blow snow later in the evening and/or early morning (noise with neighbors). This should help me stay ahead and recharge as needed. I know there will be a limit and can be mindful in planning.

To owners of this and/or the ego - your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
Welp since you asked, I bought that one last year because I was tired of my dinky plug in one. Took the plunge since I own other Ego products (push mower, weed whacker, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, edger and branch saw) so I was like ok I'm in the ecosystem so might as well.
All winter last year (in CT) didn't snow enough to use it and the last snow we had in Feb '23 it was about 4" maybe and I was like f it I'm using it yeah!
Cleared the driveway fine no issues, as I was going around the bend to start clearing the sidewalk, it picked up a small rock, and by small I mean maybe 2" in diameter or so, it must've caught it perfectly where it jammed the auger and destroyed the transmission. Like legit wouldn't even turn and you could move the auger back and fort by hand (obviously no batteries in place) I called Ego. Support was great they got me in to the nearest authorized service center (third party) I took it there in Feb, I didn't get it back until about a month ago after the service center finally called Ego and told them to send a replacement snowblower since they kept giving the runaround that they didn't have parts for the repair but yet they can sell you brand spankin new ones all year long.
SO, was it unlucky? Idk it still hasn't snowed in CT yet this year but I have a brand new Ego 2 stage waiting to be used and I'm terrified 😅
All their other products work great so far though.

I couldn't go electric because of the short lifespan, insane replacement cost, and overall lack of power. Most gas powered can go 20yr min and have all the power you need vs this 5yr gutless crap
Unfortunately my parents are getting old and my dad struggles with trying to start a gas blower. Luckily I was able to get him that Toro Electric Blower $800 deal this past summer. Otherwise I would agree that gas is king

My gas snowblower has electric start I think most of them within the past 10 years do, you pug a extension cord into it and it has push button start.

I can corroborate this. I have their 100v single stage snowblower. While it does an ok job for smaller amts of snow where
I live, I wouldn't trust it for routine serious snowfalls. Also, I asked customer service where I could get another 100V battery, and they said "tough luck, we don't make those anymore ".

So yeah, buy with caution and understanding that the company does not stand behind their products.

These batteries are in series to get to 96v (if I'm reading it correctly) so if one goes bad/weak be careful about it killing the others. Perhaps someone with more knowledge or experience could comment on that.

I've transitioned a lot of things over the electric, except for anything that requires significant power and runtime (lawn tractor and snow blower) The cost of gas snowblowers is still a better deal…if you get little snow this winter, usually can get good deals on gas units end of season. I believe I bought my 24" two stage new at Sears for $250 years ago.

If you don't mind risking it, you can get a cheap well kept used one than is listed as not running well, and try cleaning or replacing the carburetor and checking fuel lines.

That said, I was looking at this for my 70+ y/o in-laws that could use something lighter than a gas unit to help since they refuse to hire a service.

Screw it, I bit. Bought the extended warranty, will be happy if it buys me a half dozen years while battery tech improves.

Been clearing with a single stage 40v greenworks for 3-4 years. It does an ok job so long as it isn't heavy snow and you keep things under 4 inches or so. I'd typically have to do multiple passes during a big storm to ensure it wouldn't get overwhelmed.

It's been a really mild winter here so far, might be some good deals on a gas model, in which case I can pass this along or sell it.

Why are you transitioning from gas? Is it really worth $1000 to have an electric blower for those 12 times a year? Seems like super overkill. I got a used $50 gas blower 15yrs ago that's works great & does a driveway larger then yours in like 15minutes, I can't Imagine spending that much just to have electric.

I have the 80v 2 stage and one of the single stages ac/dc ones. I had the pulley for the dc motor strip on the single stage, and something fried on the control board of the two stage but no parts are available, so what I really have is a pile of scrap metal.

The big concern I have for this one is that the batteries are used in series. It needs all batteries working to get the 96volts. In the greenworks you bought every battery runs at the voltage of the motor. Those are wired in parallel. So essentially if one of the batteries dies it still works. That does not happen with this one. If one battery goes the entire thing is dead.

We get a lot of smaller 4-12" storms each season as well, so there will be more use than the large storms.

The move to electric is more to have the ability to clear snow late at night or early in the morning without disrupting neighbors and sleeping kids.
