Have never been happier with the EGO
I'm in MN where we typically see a dozen 1-2' storms each season, and I'm transitioning from a gas 30". My driveway is about 8 cars, so my concern with any electric snowblower is battery capacity.
I have a 4ah ego battery already, which helps my concern. I'm also making the switch so I can blow snow later in the evening and/or early morning (noise with neighbors). This should help me stay ahead and recharge as needed. I know there will be a limit and can be mindful in planning.
To owners of this and/or the ego - your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
All winter last year (in CT) didn't snow enough to use it and the last snow we had in Feb '23 it was about 4" maybe and I was like f it I'm using it yeah!
Cleared the driveway fine no issues, as I was going around the bend to start clearing the sidewalk, it picked up a small rock, and by small I mean maybe 2" in diameter or so, it must've caught it perfectly where it jammed the auger and destroyed the transmission. Like legit wouldn't even turn and you could move the auger back and fort by hand (obviously no batteries in place) I called Ego. Support was great they got me in to the nearest authorized service center (third party) I took it there in Feb, I didn't get it back until about a month ago after the service center finally called Ego and told them to send a replacement snowblower since they kept giving the runaround that they didn't have parts for the repair but yet they can sell you brand spankin new ones all year long.
SO, was it unlucky? Idk it still hasn't snowed in CT yet this year but I have a brand new Ego 2 stage waiting to be used and I'm terrified 😅
All their other products work great so far though.
I live, I wouldn't trust it for routine serious snowfalls. Also, I asked customer service where I could get another 100V battery, and they said "tough luck, we don't make those anymore ".
So yeah, buy with caution and understanding that the company does not stand behind their products.

I've transitioned a lot of things over the electric, except for anything that requires significant power and runtime (lawn tractor and snow blower) The cost of gas snowblowers is still a better deal…if you get little snow this winter, usually can get good deals on gas units end of season. I believe I bought my 24" two stage new at Sears for $250 years ago.
If you don't mind risking it, you can get a cheap well kept used one than is listed as not running well, and try cleaning or replacing the carburetor and checking fuel lines.
That said, I was looking at this for my 70+ y/o in-laws that could use something lighter than a gas unit to help since they refuse to hire a service.
Been clearing with a single stage 40v greenworks for 3-4 years. It does an ok job so long as it isn't heavy snow and you keep things under 4 inches or so. I'd typically have to do multiple passes during a big storm to ensure it wouldn't get overwhelmed.
It's been a really mild winter here so far, might be some good deals on a gas model, in which case I can pass this along or sell it.

The move to electric is more to have the ability to clear snow late at night or early in the morning without disrupting neighbors and sleeping kids.
