I think we have the older version of this (the sides are black and not shiny like this) for a few years now and we use it everyday. It's fast and makes good cup of espresso. And it's compact enough it doesn't take up a lot of space, we even take it on vacation to make coffee in the hotel room.

2 issues we had so far, one is after a couple of years it started to drip when it's at the On position. 2nd is it would get stuck once in a while (nothing comes out of the nozzle or very slow), we found out that there is a little spring in the mechanism (hard to explain here) needs to be cleaned and stretched (found that solution on YT). Otherwise it's been great for our use.

Uhhhh you don't know what you're talking about lol

De'Longhi isn't a no name Chinese brand. It's a well known and popular Italian brand.

I'd heard the same about the grinder, but didn't remember to give it any thought until your comment here, and appreciate it. What is the grinder that you're not super happy with? I was just reading reviews on a few and saw positive comments on Baratza.

Anyone have any feedback on whether it's better to buy an espresso machine like a Breville Barista with an integrated grinder vs separate units, i.e. an espresso machine like this with a higher end grinder on the side?
The Baratza Encore ESP is about $200 and considered a good entry level espresso grinder. Note this is not the same as the Baratza Encore, which is not good for espresso since there is not enough precision control over grind size. The ESP solves that problem for espresso.

Generally a stand alone grinder is considered better and more serviceable but an integrated one can work as well.

1. Get a good grinder. I use Baratza Sette 30. It was 50% off at amazon warehouse deal

2. For this machine get bottomless portafilter

3. Unpressurized basket

That should at you up for decent shot.

If you can't pull a decent shot, you need to adjust grind size, amount of beans…
Basket, water, puck prep ( distribution, temping). Once you find your set up, it should be easy to make coffee

It's not the espresso machines fault

Do you have a link for the video? Or a general idea on how to find it? My machine has a similar issue, I though it was because I left it on for a couple of hours by mistake and maybe some internal seal had loosen

I bought the Sam's Club version ECP 3220 for $70 on Sunday. It was marked as clearance sale $100.33 -$30 = $70.33. I was recommending the deal to a friend at work today but all Sam's in my area are back up to $90 ($120 - $30 sale thru 12/31). I'm thinking the clearance deal was a pricing error. I'm happy with the unit. Made two Americanos and they were full bodied, smooth, not at all bitter. Best cup of coffee I've had in years.

Exactly my experience! I open it up and do the "stretch the spring" thingy. If one lives in "calcium" water regions, the buildup is even worse. The leaking thing is annoying, but it still makes coffee when needed.
I think I have made about 1000 cups already.
Tip to buyers: do descaling once in a while. Also, don't forget to clean the frother.

A Bararza is expensive but good solid machine. There are few cheaper burr grinders available as well. I inaugurated a Hamilton Beach Burr Grinder this morning ($30 from Marshalls)

Sams club has a similar machine for $90.00
Amazon has another one for $85.66
I was eyeing that one too, ECO3220. What waries me is that the best ones are in the $400 range at least. This is significantly cheaper. And in my head I will always think, what did they skimp on with the production of these then? Is it more plastic parts? Even the boiling part? Those stuff worries me.

Di' Longhi usually makes a 4cup which is what i've been trying to find since my current Di' Longhi espresso machine's power button broke off and popped out idk how, any i noticed that a lot of companies are not including the carafe or the frothing pitcher (which they previously hadn't provided the pitcher). i accidentally selected the wrong one but tried it and it would take way to long to make larger amounts of espresso for the sports bottle.

Get the Sam's club one! Buy a bottomless portafilter and unpressurized filter basket, and a good grinder, e.g. Kingrinder K4 (approx. $90), and you can pull great real espresso. If you are on budget, K2 will do too, just needing a little bit more muscle.
What is your recommendation for an open bottom filter? The one i bought leaks. Even though it says it's compatible on amazon.
