I just snagged the LG's on clearance at MicroCenter new-in-box yesterday for $665
I think you answered your own question. For the price, this one fits all my needs and sounds excellent especially with Samsung tv

There's tons of reviews on this particular model. Check other SD older threads as well. I personally own this one and the q990c. For this price you can't beat the quality of sound being offered. It also activates other features if you pair it with a Samsung tv. Overall I would give it 8.5/10

From what I can tell, the Q910C has a smaller subwoofer and soundbar with fewer speakers than the Q990C. The Q910C has smaller rear speakers than the Q990C. The Q910C rears have drivers facing one direction, but the Q990C rears each have three drivers facing toward you, toward the ceiling, and sideways.
But at current prices, is the difference worth $400 more to get the Q990C? Or save $400 and get the Q910C?
Actually, how exactly does this help over 5.1? Especially if it's all in a soundbar form.

For soundbars, they point the speakers upward to bounce off the ceiling. That's one difference between the Q910C and Q990C: the rear satellites in the Q990C also have upward facing speakers (and outward facing speakers) to enhance the "sound bubble" effect when playing atmos or other encoded audio with sounds that come from above/to the sides. The Q910C rear satellites have speakers that face only forward (not up, and not out to the sides)
EDIT: to clarify, it's not all in the sound bar. The Q910C includes satellite units separate from the sound bar. You typically position those behind you. here, they are considered wireless because they do not have a wired connection to the sound bar. However, they are wired to the subwoofer, which is separate from and wirelessly linked to the soundbar.
So you put the sound bar under the TV in front of you, and you put the subwoofer somewhere behind you or to the side of you, and then you wire the satellite surrounds to the subwoofer and put those on the wall behind you.
Keep in mind, the width of the sound bar and help to widen the sound stage. The Q990C, for example, is like 48 inches wide *AND* has some speakers pointing sideways to even further widen it. I forget the width of the Q910C sound bar, but it's less than the Q990C.
