I purchased this several years ago. I do have to defrost it about every six months. No problems with it at all. I did see that others had problems with the delivery.

Yeah in theory. All that logic goes right out the window as you end up spending years of your life digging through that chest freezer to find that pack of burger from 2014 that is down there... somewhere...

upright ones waste more energy though as the cold air all go out when you open it, vs a normal top opening one where the cold air stays down

I bought a similar upright freezer from Best Buy last month for same price ($229). I see that it's now $250. For those that prefer Best Buy or have rewards to use, might want to check it out. It looks identical based on the pictures. Pretty sure they just rebranded it. Carefully inspect the bottom of the fridge upon delivery/pickup to make sure they didn't drop the package. My first one was dropped on one of the corners which dented the fridge and prevented it from sealing correctly. Had to drive back to store for exchange

can this be used in a garage? for some reason, an old standalone fridge I put in the garage keeps tripping the circuit but the same fridge works fine inside the house

Purchased 2 years ago still good .. it's so big and shipping with fedex or ups . 1 driver period the packaging gets really banged up in route

Tripping the breaker simply means you have overloaded the electrical circuit. For example, perhaps your indoor circuit was only the fridge and some small, USB chargers plugged into wall outlets whereas your garage had much larger items on the same circuit. Could also be an indication of faulty wiring if the fridge was indeed the only item on the garage circuit. An arc somewhere along the path could be enough to trip the breaker (for protection).

During normal operation, this freezer itself should never trip a standard 15 or 20A breaker.

it's not going to save you that much more money. If you're worried about the extra dollar or two, you have bigger concerns than about the efficiency of an upright vs chest freezer. the bonus of having it more organized and easier to pick out what you need is also a convenience.

Could be plugged into a GFCI. Fridges will trip those

I bought the BB insignia version which looks exactly the same thing for $225. Arrived ding'ed and bestbuy was able to credit back some. Unit has been running two months. It is quite and spacious for extra freezer storage. I recommend it. It's not the cheapest price you will get but decent enough if you need one now.
