I was able to get it done. You have to call in to cancel your current account. The cancellation order takes less an hour to finalize. Once it's cancelled, your address will be eligible to sign up for a new account. You can use the same name and SSN, just create a new FiOS online account after you place your order.

Actual disconnection came in less than 5 minutes after my call with support ended. But the cancellation order was still shown as pending for around an hour I think? Once the cancellation order went through, FiOS released the address to be eligible for new service again. You just have to wait a little before you can sign up again. Otherwise, even if you select you're signing up for a second service, their system will block your new order as there's another order (cancellation) pending.

I'd say you can get the new service activated in about 40 minutes from the moment you hang up your phone with phone support for cancellation.

It's 2023. Why on earth don't we treat ISPs as a regulated utility? I am stuck with crappy Optimum/Cablevision internet in a heavily populated part of the North-East.

I was looking at the same, it look like it is an additional $36 a month provided you get the same $10 discount you probably already have with paperless and auto pay discount

Instead of cancelling the current service all together, is it possible to set up as a new account holder taking over the address as the tenant is moving out (this is an option) and use a different name and ssn for the new order? Don't want to be without service even for a couple of hours

we have to keep for 180 days. My question though is will I need to switch routers when I downgrade to 300? If I can keep the router and extender they include with this, will I be charged extra to rent them when downgrading?
