I was able to get it done. You have to call in to cancel your current account. The cancellation order takes less an hour to finalize. Once it's cancelled, your address will be eligible to sign up for a new account. You can use the same name and SSN, just create a new FiOS online account after you place your order.

anyway to finesse getting this deal as a current customer?

Actual disconnection came in less than 5 minutes after my call with support ended. But the cancellation order was still shown as pending for around an hour I think? Once the cancellation order went through, FiOS released the address to be eligible for new service again. You just have to wait a little before you can sign up again. Otherwise, even if you select you're signing up for a second service, their system will block your new order as there's another order (cancellation) pending.

I'd say you can get the new service activated in about 40 minutes from the moment you hang up your phone with phone support for cancellation.

jamesdsmacThanks. What type of up/down speeds do you see?
I just did a speedtest and it was ~900 mbps for both up and down. Speed has been consistent since I got it. Prior to this I was on cable internet and it would slow down certain days of the week - it was awful. This doesn't happen with fios.

do you get a cancellation confirmation via email? I guess other than waiting for an hour or so to sign up, how do you know it's cancelled?

also, when you say you had to reboot ONT, did you just simply unplug and re-plug?

and do you need the fios router to do that? I also don't use the fios router either.

You can log into your old FiOS account to see if there's a order for cancellation pending. It appears as a small banner on the top.

I don't know if the ONT issue happens every time. If you can't activate your new service, definitely check your ONT box to see if any red light is on.

I was able to. It seems the promos are based on new accounts and not new user, new service, or new address. So if you cancel your current service(account) you would then need to create a new account to get service again and therefore qualify for all promos. Here's my experience.

As a current FIOS subscriber I was able to cancel and resubscribe and am seeing all the promos.

Placed deactivation order for current service Dec 14. Picked a deactivation date a week away give or take. Dec 20 I think was the date I picked but it doesn't matter because I'll cancel service as soon as I get the router which is usually less a week.

Ordered new service on Dec 14th.

Router received on Dec 16

Canceled old service Dec 18

Activated new service Dec 18

Xbox and Amazon GC showed up under offers when logged in to the account and was able to claim both. Xbox shipped already. Amazon gift card says 24-48 hours

Verizon GC says I can't redeem until Feb 21 because it's not supposed to be available until after 65 days of service.

Where I might have messed up is that I ordered 1 GB streaming instead of 1GB gaming so I might miss out on the $50 Xbox gift card. Tried to chat up a rep and see if they can change it to no avail. I have no need for the streaming promos. I wanted the Xbox gift card but oh well. So be careful when selecting streaming or gaming as it does not seem to be reversible.

I was at work when I did the cancelation and activation. Nobody was home. So I have no idea how long I went without internet. I activated around 10 AM and nobody was home until 4 PM. Went home later and just swapped the router. Think I had a WiFi 6 router and they sent a new 6E one. The new service works with either router but I do have to return the old one so I swapped to the new one ASAP to free up the old one to be returned.
Any cancellation fee?

Is anyone else suspicious about this offer? It's such a good offer that I believe something weird is going on.

Unpopular opinion and please do not lynch me for saying this but 95% of people will never need or use 1GBPS speeds. You would have to have over 50 devices connected at the same time doing HEAVY streaming or torrenting to really need that much bandwidth. Yes your smart fridge and your smart watch hardly count as devices since the use very very little data and is not frequently used. 300 to 500mbps is more than perfect for most households with 30 or less devices connected at the same time. I would highly encourage everyone to invest in a good router to handle it all. In many cases the routers are too old to keep up and the ones these companies provide are complete dookie.

Thank you... and just to confirm, were you able to cancel the old service and activate the new service on same day?

How long did it take for the offers to show up on the account or was it instant?

Yes. It took a while because I wasn't home and the ONT needed a reboot. Otherwise I could've got everything done within an hour.

I was able to get the offer. I just went through live chat and they basically did it for me. One thing I noticed is that technically I pay a little bit more now, but I think its still worth it. I was paying 83.99/mo and now its 89.99/mo (I expect that over time my 83.99/mo would have gotten increased as it wasn't locked in ... so maybe I lose out on 1-2 years of a slightly higher price). Worth mentioning the 89.99/mo is after the discount with paying for your checking account.

But here is what I'll get , atleast according to the order confirmation. Not sure if I'll get everything listed , but it seems like more than whats listed in the first page:

Your deals
New Bonus $100 Verizon Gift Card
New $50 Xbox eGift Card
New MoCA Ethernet Adapter
New $200 Amazon.com Gift Card
New $50 Verizon Gift Card
New Xbox Series X Console

My plan was to to have my wife be the new account moving in and cancelling my account the day before her activation.

Verizon is asking for proof of residency:
  • Real Estate Purchase Agreement or Sales Contract
  • Property Deed or Title
  • Mortgage Billing Statement
  • Lease or Rental Agreement
  • Utility Bill
Problem is all of those are in my name. Does anyone know if a bank statement or License would work?

For those who had orders on hold and had to submit proof of residency, how long did it take to get it off hold after submitting the file?

Why does my final bill shows up as 89.99$. Am I doing something wrong?
