About these Games:
Five hundred years ago, an ancient and well respected Shaolin fighting tournament, held every 50 years, was corrupted by an evil and elderly sorcerer by the name of Shang Tsung. Shang was accompanied by Prince Goro, a warrior of the Shokan race (a four-armed half-human / half-dragon). Knowing that if ten tournaments in a row were won by the Outworld champion, the Earth Realm would be conquered by evil and fall into darkness, Shang entered Goro in the tournament and had him defeat the great Kung Lao. Goro has been reigning supreme as the undefeated fighting champion for five hundred years now. As the last tournament required draws near, Raiden, Thunder God and protector of the Earth Realm, enacts a plan to tip the scales in the humans' favor, Seven fighters step into the arena on Shang Tsung's mysterious island: Shaolin warrior Liu Kang, Special Forces operative Sonya Blade, the mercenary thug Kano, fame-seeking actor Johnny Cage, the ice-wielding Lin Kuei warrior Sub-Zero and his undead adversary Scorpion, and Raiden himself.

These are the DOS versions. They should work on any OS you want that supports DOS Box as long as you know how to make it happen.
They are really good translations. The sound is a bit weak on some, and configuring game controllers can be a pain since they're pre X-Input. If you have a keyboard mapping stick it might be the best way to go.
Toasty!

For those interested, it's been known that this version of MK2 has inferior sound. To remedy this, follow this link to the GOG forum topic that provides the instructions and direct link to the Gravis Ultrasound patch. Also, the OP patch link no longer works. Look at the 3rd post where a user provides working link to the patch.
Thats what i realised after wasting a bunch of money on 1up arcades and then finding out how cheap you have to discount them to get those tiny joke of an arcade cab out of your house....

Forgot to mention it also improves the audio for MK1 too.
If you're going to go spend a half hour reading and implementing changes to improve the sound you might as well just download and play the arcade versions for the same amount of effort

Well, one could simply download the mod/patch and read 7 sentences of instruction while the mod D/L's, and then implement the simple mod/patch. I find it hard to believe it takes the average person half an hour to do this.

There's zero chance it's faster to buy this, run it to get a baseline, click your link, read what it says, dodge the link you said doesn't work, patch it, then test it again to see if it was executed correctly versus downloading the ROM and downloading mame or RetroArch.

'Sup, second place!
The simple fact is that this topic isn't about downloading the ROM and downloading mame or RetroArch. In case you missed it, it's about buying from GOG, and for those who do, this mod/patch improves the audio. Which still wouldn't take the average person 1/2 an hour to implement.
But please, keep your tirade going until you feel like you've "won".

This is obviously really important to you and your ego so I'm going to go on with other things.
