This brushless small angle grinder requires no time changing brushes and offers a long motor life. This grinder is equipped with Kickback Brake which engages with maximum force to stop the wheel when a pinch, stall, or bind-up is detected. Power Loss Reset prevents accidental restarts following a power disruption when the tool is left in the "on" position.

The paddle switch version is lightyears safer and better the switch version. You'll take your arm off.
Once again friend, just stating my experience in the event it is helpful or informative to others. A "great deal" on a bare tool might not sound so hot anymore once you realize you need to shell out another $75-100+ for a bigger battery because the ones you already have, in fact, will not truly work.

And red doesn't have anything like Perform and Detect either.

The hack it just means to return the battery and keep the tool correct?

Just in time to get the kiddos new bikes before Christmas! 😂
Seriously though, thanks OP, slowly building up the Dewalt collection and this one is on the short list.

Yes, either return battery or just set the tool and battery for pickup at different stores and only pick up the tool. Note: it no longer lets you set one for delivery and one for pickup

FWIW, not sure how much better the brushless is in this regard, but I bought the non-brushless version of this a few months ago and no exaggeration, it drained fully charged batteries to absolute zero in about 2-3 minutes. (the standard DeWalt batteries, which I believe are 1.3-4AH, something like that) I went through 3 batteries this way, and those batteries work just fine in other tools, so they weren't "bad" batteries.

So with big 4-6AH batteries plus this being brushless, maybe you'll be okay depending on your project. Just something you may want to consider is all. I returned the one I got and purchased the big corded one.

Is there a difference between the XR and the Flexvolt?

You dont run a cut off wheel with pansy 1.3-4AH batteries with any expectation of runtime. Another contrast is someone running 5AH with a Milwaukee Chainsaw and expecting it to work longer then 5 minutes.
