Make sure to choose the pack of two. Its the same price as the pack of one. Mistake? Maybe...
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

One of the reviews mentioned that the inside rusted within a few weeks, preventing them from turning the key and thus rendering the lock useless. This is something to consider not necessarily just for this particular lock, but for any key lock in general, as I wouldn't have thought about it.
So how much to spend on a $411 Rattan e-bike that may not arrive?
They have a "free" key replacement offer. Regardless, people crapping on this deal because the lock isn't secure enough .. please enlighten us all as to what bike lock will provide any security to any thief willing to open it in public. If it's anywhere near this price, I'll buy the entire company that makes it.

General rule is your lock should be about 1/10th the cost of your bike.
Obviously you can find better deals,
but in general you wouldn't want to lock your $1000 bike with $5 lock or spend $70 on a lock for a $200 bike.
Who made up this "rule"?

The rule as I always knew it was, if the bike can't go with you, don't go without the bike.
The way you phrase it is technically a contradiction.
If you phrased it "If the bike can't go with you, don't go with the bike." I think it makes more sense as a saying.

That would make your message: Don't take the bike if you can't keep it in your care.

If that is what you mean, it seems extreme, as this limits you to only recreational use. Some run errands and/or commute.

To put in in simpler terms. You don't leave your bike anywhere outside of your home or garage. Literally, not even for a minute. Even a $200 bike will/can be stolen. I'm guessing you either don't have a bike, or have a bike with a kickstand.

Thank you for confirming what you meant was what I said. It just needs the little tweak I mentioned. The double negative contradicts your meaning in the second part.

You failed to preface it as relating to high-dollar bikes, but I see that is also what you were referring to based on your response about not having a kickstand. So I also see you meant professional thieves. In which case there is nothing to "stop them".

I take many factors into account. Some areas I would not even ride through as there is a higher risk of being bike-jacked. That happened to me as a teen.
So did I give up riding nice bikes since there is no way to stop a determined thief? Nope. My best solution is self-defense if I am physically attacked. But if they have the drop on me, it's "Take my bike.".

I generally use mine for recreation/exercise. But if I stop at a cafe or lunch spot and lock it up, I feel okay for brief periods. I would try to keep my eyes on it constantly if possible.

Again, many use their bikes for other things than recreation. They should understand there is always more risk even if locked up for any amount of time unattended.
And yes commuters and errand runners (quick pit stops) often ride nicer bikes.

We noticed while in NYC that they all take their seats along with them and some take their front wheels. Added deterrents, but still a risk. Just gives them another little extra to avoid thieves of opportunity. Pro thieves would of course carry a seat and a wheel to throw on plus their usual tools for this situation, because they are doing this as an income source.

No. What we need is people who have little going on in their lives except running grammar checks at every opportunity, to find something constructive to do with their time. Rest assured. The majority of people who read your comments roll their eyes and move on. That's the problem with a one trick pony. They think they are interesting, when in reality they are only interesting to themselves. Or maybe search some forum containing other people who enjoy grammar checking as much as you do? Or just continue being ignored on sites like this.

I was trying to clarify, what I interpreted you to have meant as it was confusing and contradictory, and you decided to go on some attack. Mature. All you had to do was the clarification. Then maybe if you were so inclined, correct the error. But hey, you don't care about being understood. Your point has debatable issues and still isn't always realistic (as per my detailed explanation of real life experiences). Sorry about your being upset and being defensive and responding with condescending responses. I only wanted to put in my counterpoints. I think that should not elicit such a response. Please have the last word as whatever insult you prefer to hurl. I was never insulting you. Only perplexed by your contradiction at first, then putting my points in like you did.

By the way, the mature thing to do is thank someone who helps correct you. Take me for example. Just today, I posted something in the wrong forum, got called out, and owned right up to it. Thanked and repped the person. Things happen and you should not take it so hard, but editing is an option, and I do it all the time.

So you lock your bikes using shoelaces?

This is the dumbest guideline I've read today. I know some people spend $5000+ on a road bike. So who makes a $500 bicycle lock?
go buy D1000🙄

These look great for the price. The locking pin looks strong. Combining this with a u lock will help if you are going to leave it long. There aren't many thefts in my rural town, so this is a no-brainer slick deal for my Gary Fisher Trek hybrid bike. Thanks and repped.

I have this lock. I use it to lock my bike to the ring hooks on my trucks bed.

Do i trust the lock will prevent theft…nope. I use it as a deterrent to the less skilled thieves.

They also offer free keys.

I have a cheap $2500 FS MTB.

Do you experience any resting issues in the key slots? I am planning to put grease inside if I buy them. thanks.

I live in a non humid area. We don't have a lot of rain and rust. I haven't had to use any grease.
