In terms of pixel density, a 15.6" 1080p screen is 141 PPI, while a 17.3" 1440p screen is 169 PPI. That's about 17% less pixel density, which I'm hoping is mostly unnoticeable at the distance I use my laptop (about 2 feet). In terms of color gamut, this screen is 100% sRGB, so I'm not worried about color accuracy after calibration. I'm also not worried about the low nits, as I use my computer indoors 100% of the time and with the brightness turned down.

Prices will come down, just as they did for this model, G14, etc
But I don't think I'd be shy about getting a laptop with a 2k display and a 4070. If the settings can't be adjusted to your liking, then can't you cut the pixels in half in both directions? Can't remember what that's called. You'll be less than 1080p then, but should get very good framerates.
Also games that support DLSS and frame generation would look good on 2k with no FPS issues.
