I think 4070 at 1080p is perfect. The pixel density is just fine at 15.6

I think this might be the laptop that I settle on. The questionable part is around the 1080p screen, but after trying out a few gaming laptops the past few weeks, I've come to question the added expense of a cramming 4080 into a laptop in order to push high framerates on a 1440p screen. Also, laptops with 4080s have huge power bricks and get super loud. The real question to me is whether a 4070 is underpowered for pushing a 1440p screen, and whether I'll have to run it at full power or turn down settings considerably to get decent framerates on more demanding games.

In terms of pixel density, a 15.6" 1080p screen is 141 PPI, while a 17.3" 1440p screen is 169 PPI. That's about 17% less pixel density, which I'm hoping is mostly unnoticeable at the distance I use my laptop (about 2 feet). In terms of color gamut, this screen is 100% sRGB, so I'm not worried about color accuracy after calibration. I'm also not worried about the low nits, as I use my computer indoors 100% of the time and with the brightness turned down.

Intel Ultra cpus will murder this, especially in efficiency...
How much do laptops with those CPUs generally cost?

ASUS warranty isn't transferable. Which makes open box a dumb option to go with as you are getting a used device that has no warranty with saving less than 10%

Prices will come down, just as they did for this model, G14, etc

Ultra isn't meant for gaming laptop though. It's more for thin and light, or ultrabook.

My eyes are a bigger problem than the pixel density...

But I don't think I'd be shy about getting a laptop with a 2k display and a 4070. If the settings can't be adjusted to your liking, then can't you cut the pixels in half in both directions? Can't remember what that's called. You'll be less than 1080p then, but should get very good framerates.

Also games that support DLSS and frame generation would look good on 2k with no FPS issues.

Would you rather have the Dell g16 13900hx + qhd 240hz screen with a 4060 or this laptop?

Warranty should be from date of first activation, let's say I activate it January and return it and you buy March, the warranty should be active til the folllwjng January

Correct?

Hard part is pushing 240fps in most games with a 4060
