too many drawback on this model for the price vs. other deals that had much better. For example:

-only full HD, not QHD.
-others in this price range (when on sale) have been 13th gen I7 instead of 12th gen.
-144 Hz display instead of 240Hz on similarly priced modesl (when on sale).
-ram only DDR4, and only 3200 megahertz, the lenovos at this price (actually $1009, open box excellent) had DD5, 4800 megahz

if it were only one of things, I'd say ok, but it is a bunch of stuff.

I recommend you get touchscreen one time so you can realize you don't really want or need it ..

It has been $999.99 not just once but multiple times. There's no reason to get this at this price especially when you can get the Acer Nitro 16 with a QHD display and 4070 for just $70 more.

Plus, this was $1199.99 a week ago and I'm pretty sure that by next week it's going to come back down to $999.99 once again.

I have this laptop (got it when it was $999) and I love it. I travel for work and use it for office products, CAD, and gaming. I get to my hotel room, crank out some email and documents or drawings, then connect to the hotel TV and fire up Elden Ring in glorious 4K. (The display on this laptop is 1080, but since it's 15.6, you hardly notice.) This thing'll crank out the 4K for you and it's just SO worth it, IMO.
The only thing I wish this had was touchscreen, but that'll be for my next laptop.

I wish it was 240hz, but 165 is still more than good for most games. VERY good deal for the specs

anyone know if it has a spare SSD slot?

I had a touchcreen on a one of those rotate the screen 360 degree laptops and the best use I found for it was to lay it on a table and let the kids play microsoft jigsaw. Didn't use it for much else really.

Don't cry, plug it in on a 4k 120hz HDMI tv and this thing will be a beast. I updated the RAM to 32GB DDR4 at a great price. Also it has 2 NVME SSD slots, and a 90watts battery. That means that the battery life will be longer for simple stuff like web browsing. Also light gaming is possible with the Intel chip since it has an "acceptable" integrated graphics card, excellent for indie games without being plugged to power at decent framerates. All that in a 5 pounds machine that you can easily charge via power brick and/or USB-C and add to that is has Thunderbolt 4 into that package. It's an excellent opportunity to buy it. Open box is even better if you found it. This is an RTX 4070, you can see other sales but most likely are not 4070.

It is actually only 144hz, and yes you can add another SSD.

HD will be fine on this size screen, pretty crisp still. QHD would obviously be nicer, but 1080 works here.

For gaming there will be virtually no difference in the 12th vs 13th gen i7s

Maybe you are thinking of 165hz screens, as 240hz screens are priced significantly above this

Again for gaming, DDR5 vs the DDR4 here won't be anything to write home about

All in all this laptop is a beast for the price, but I would say wait for $999 again, it has been that price several times now.

Was just about to say pretty sure this has been $1000 multiple times, its a good deal even at this price cause of the 4070 but worth just waiting for it to drop to $1k again.

The screen is a little lower specced than other deals recently. Based on the reviews I've seen, the color accuracy/vibrancy is good but the brightness and contrast are about ~10% lower than the newer 16:10 budget Asus screens (this one is 16:9). But still not bad. Wish the open box ones had a deeper discount.
