Not entirely true. Recent stock of this motherboard should have updated bios up to Ryzen 5000 series. Bought the 4ac version last year, to pair with 5600, and bios was updated to 1.8. You can check which version of the bios is on the actual mobo by checking for a small sticker indicating the bios version currently on it. Its a solid mobo for budget builds under ~$500
Bought this at $80 last year as well.

The MSI board has 7 USB and 1 USBC ports on the back, has better vrm and better heatsinks, has bios q-flash so you dont need a CPU in the socket to flash bios, slightly higher quality audio chipset, internal USBC header, comes with a m.2 heatsink cover and also positioned above the GPU for easy access (no need to take out the GPU to access your primary m.2 slot).
The only thing the asrock board has that is slightly better is the dedicated m.2 wifi card slot but it doesnt actually come with a wifi card so you have to buy it yourself.

It's a shame that's not a standard feature on most motherboards. Having to borrow somebody else's CPU to update your BIOS is pretty ridiculous.

I've deployed over 200k systems since 1998, I'm pretty savvy with builds...

That Flashback+ feature on some MSI mobos allows you to recover the BIOS, yes, but it ALSO allows you to flash a new version, without plugging in anything except a PSU and a USB drive. I'm sure there are other brands that also allow this, as it's not a very new feature.Did you follow those links? You can flash a NEW version of the BIOS with that button, you just have to load the version you want on a USB drive. That's what I call an UPDATE.
