Yeah, this is released in 2017, and was targeted for education. So these are most likely used ones from some school.
Knowing that, if you need a cheapo one that can stream YouTube for a kid, this isn't a bad choice for a young kid. Also I seen one place the ram is upgradable, although that probably wont help performance much.
Hmm. So there are quite a few models of chromebooks on that site for $30ish. Based on the models that my kids have been using, the education series Dells seem to be nearly bulletproof. Anyone have ideas on which ones might be the best in terms of processor power and maybe RAM upgradeablity? I know there are ways to hack Winblowz onto these things... might not be a bad laptop/mule for tossing around in less than ideal locations for simple tasks.

So digging around some more- all of the $30 chromebooks on that site use the N3060 processor, which can run windoze semi-ok if you're only doing one task at a time, and there are videos on youtube on how to install windoze. The emmc storage can't really be upgraded unless you want to slot a USB flash drive in for extra space- which can get really slow- but Win 10 can be forced to live in a 16GB space if you really want it to. The Dell 3180 at least can run Android apps from the Play store, so for my purposes, it would work fine as a powerpoint viewer inside the factory OS, assuming it's powerful enough to run slideshows. Might be worth the $30 to try.
Unless there was a recent update to fix things, a chromebook update in early 2023 made android apps SUPER slow on chromebooks with less than 8gb of ram.
It was one of the reasons I sold my lenovo 10e Chromebook.
