I have 4 ambient (warmth-shifting) Philips Hue BR30 bulbs. They're currently in my kitchen's down lights, but I could use more in my basement, also in these small can-lights I use sometimes where a lamp won't go.
Pros:
-Energy efficient vs incandescent or fluorescent (or CFL)
-Long lasting
-Cheaper than Incandescent or CFL after about a year of use.
-Flicker free
-All lumen output is focused out one direction, from a wide diffuser
-75W equivalent is plenty for home use, unless you have few lights in a large room.
-Hue smart device benefits (automatic off, voice control, dimming, remote control when not home, ability to adjust one bulb even if a whole set is tied to one light switch)
-each bulb acts as a network repeater for Philips' proprietary wireless network
-etc
Cons:
-More expensive up-front
-Hue bridge recommended for best smart experience.
-If installed on the same circuit as a dimmer switch, less than 100% setting causes a buzzing sound (the bulbs don't buzz if the dimmer switch is at 100% and you use the app to dim the light).
I'm tempted to buy this pack. As me anything in a reply.
Philips is now plans to force users to create accounts and log into those accounts in order to use their Hue products.
