This is a great price if you can get it. Nice find OP.
My .02, and worth everything you paid for it, don't use it on your back. Yes, I have, but I won't ever do it again. When I started doing research on my side hustle I found a lot of stories about chemicals burns on people's backs, buttocks, hamstrings, and where the chemical slid down into the rectum and taint area. You do you, you were given free advice. I would buy this every day of the week but use it like a regular pump up. On a side note, you can make the hose longer, it is just some poly tubing you can get anywhere.
Hm, what do you think about the bad reviews about leaks and failure after a few uses?
Thank you Faintharted,
I was able to get one in Westfield, MA. There were 2 remaining about an hour ago.
They also had Scotts GrubEx 10,000 sq. ft bags marked down to $4.50
032247996105. I got three bags, there were 2 remaining.
The ones I got had bare metal stands instead of black-painted. No instructions. They only came with one bolt for the pump lever. One was missing the nut for the bolt. I also got an older one that was clearly used and missing parts but had instructions and a black stand; I wonder if Solo will honor the warranty for it
So many bad reviews on Amazon recently... I hope they work.

So you are the one that bought the last 2 at my store hehe
1. The service sucks as the inventory report is wildly inaccurate for most of the stores reported.
2. How do they generate revenue? Not in a good way for anyone that uses a legit email.
3. How do they stay afloat with fake emails used as credentials? They probably won't. So what's the point of the entire exercise of the current BS (truly an apt acronym)
Lol. Where do you think they get the inventory numbers from? THE STORES.? So maybe it's THE STORES that have become "trash" with inaccurate inventory numbers 🤣🤣🤣

Having used pump ups for the last couple of years with no issues other than them eventually aging out (sun exposure), I'm inclined to say that it is operator error. This isn't to say manufacturing defects don't occur. No pump up, and I have bought some pretty expensive ones, is meant to store product in it. It is to be used and cleaned out. Cleaned out means flushing out the hose and nozzle as well. I do this at the end of every job, but I can see harry the homeowner throwing it in the shed and pulling it out 3 months later and it won't spray and complains online about it. Or the corrosive product they were using rusted the internals.
I buy chapins often, they seem to work. I also look for viton seals, as they are more corrosive resistant. I would buy this and use it then toss it, it is replaceable. I use acids, hydroxides, bleaches, herbicides, and fungicides in mine. Mainly acids and bleaches.
Yikes, that visual. Why aren't these leak-proof or built with better materials that complement the chemicals inside?
Most pump ups aren't designed for storage, they are meant for use and then rinsed/cleaned, then stored. The average person is too lazy and just chucks it back in the shed or garage. I might store a chemical in mine, especially pricey chemicals, for a day or two at most.
Like everything else, chemically resistant seals like Viton's, cost more than junk plastic or rubber ones, and that would cut into profits.

Hope that answers the question.
I was looking at Amazon reviews sorted by most recent. What gets me is that some say they clean/rinse/maintain it. I guess there might be a bias towards leaving reviews for negative experiences.

I agree with your assessment. I am inclined to leave a review when I have a negative experience. Having said that, and having worked in a factory before, there are bad runs. I use this one a lot https://chapinmfg.com/collections...es-sprayer
I've replaced a couple over the years, but I keep buying them because they have been reliable.
I like this one for small jobs using bleaches, the only downside is that it doesn't have a pressure release valve like the other one. Just means you have to be careful when undoing the lid and use PPE. Glasses and nitrile gloves at a min. https://chapinmfg.com/products/ch...ch-sprayer

I'll differ to your vast personal experience with STD's.
