It looks like the US "Reservation Gift" cannot be used towards the phone either: "The Gift cannot be applied to the pre-ordered device(s) and must be used at the time of pre-order purchase towards purchasing additional eligible products on Samsung.com, or in the Shop Samsung App."

Exactly. Having a choice is better. Still have not had anyone explain what the customer GAINED by removing the expansion slot. Prices have done nothing but go up since it's removal.

getting rid of the SD card was a money grab on the high end phones....storage is cheap.....they figure if you can afford their high end phone you will pay up for more storage.....they include and brag about the A54 having SD card storage

Last year's best deal comes from Google Fi. But Samsung official website does have the highest trade-in values though. So it you have s22u/s23u, you may get a good deal to upgrade to s24u, if they are willing to keep the upgrading cost under $300 with trade-in.

I have an S23 Ultra currently on a payment plan with at&t. Can I trade it in for an S24 Ultra without issues? And will there be good trade in deals?

Thanks!
I don't think you can. I had a payment plan with bill credits for verizion. I wanted to trade my phone but if i did would loose the bill credits and still have to pay the remaining amount of the phone. Phone was about 1200 with 1000 in bill credits. Bill credits is a scam

I'm looking forward to upgrading from the S22 to S24 just for battery life. If the leaks are to be believed the S24 will have a 4000mAh battery. Not as much as I was hoping for, but could be worse. Hoping for a really awesome trade-in deal like I got from my S22 where it cost me about $150.

You are wrong Jeffry. You can definitely trade in your phone on payment plan just make sure you keep paying the old phone off. As long as the phone is not blacklsted you can trade it.

Are you using verizion? When I tried I had about 500 in bill credits on my account. They said if I traded the phone, all those credits would no longer apply so basically 0 😢. And i am still responsible for the remaining phone balance which was around 600. I did read up to verify to make sure they we not trying to pull a fast one.

You can trade in your verizon device. You are still responsible for the payments at verizon though. I've confirmed this multiple times with vz online and in person at the store. Was a concern when I was going to trade in my S22 ultra and I still had 2 years left of bill credits.

Sadly the microSD slot will never come back. Very few people actually use or care about it.
It's in the A54. Why do they continue to put it in new mdrange sets?

I've kept the same SanDisk for years. Samsung is still putting it in their mid and low range sets

If you buy a phone on Google is the phone unlocked for another carrier? I need 2 lines but I don't need a fancy phone for my 2nd line.
Yes. It's factory unlocked. I think you have to leave it on Google Fi for 3 or 4 months though.

Even if he is wrong... What are you going to do? Be on bill credits for the first phone, and trade it for another phone that also requires you have bill credits and be in bill credit insception? Seems like your only choice is to pay full price if you upgrade.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is because they don't want to redesign some of these crappy midrange phones. They probably figure it's cheaper to include the microsd reader into the phone than to redesign the board inside the phone. Also gives an extra spec boost for these low/midrange phones.

Another possibility is they're designed with 2nd/3rd world countries in mind where they need more local storage since their cell infrastructure is garbage.
