Given that I will be using the laptop to learn programming and read pdfs while taking notes, I didn't see the extra power of the 16gb pro to be worth it.
I think one could simply manage their resources better such that 8gb could be sufficient. Just dont have too many things open at once, problem solved right?
That being said, is the M2 air for $1050 a better deal than the M1 air for $750?

Mind you that I don't do pro editing. Just some node js programming, browsing (~40 tabs maybe), streaming and word/excel processing. I don't worry about disk space because most of my data is on the cloud. I don't worry about SSD life because my laptop cycle is 3 years on average. There are things youtube content creators will tell you to worry about but are going to be non-consequential for most people.
8GB is a good buy for most people. Period.
