I have had both the Viper and this one. They both drain the battery.
I've had this same Compustar on a Nissan Rogue going 5 years, no problem at all. I also have a Viper 4806 on another car, has been great for 10 years.
I bought one back in October when it was on sale. It works perfectly, no issues with battery drain and the BestBuy tech was awesome. He asked all the questions on how we wanted it to work (it can be configured different ways), explained everything thoroughly, walked me through it and said if we had any issues just give him a call or bring it back in. It's been working flawlessly since. The BestBuy service was the best service experience I've had in some time. It blew me away because I wasn't expecting it based on my experiences with BB service years ago.

I've even thought about getting one for my car even though I probably won't have it much longer.

Just wanted to add, we use it daily. Also, we can use the original fob by pressing sequences. For example, to start press LOCK UNLOCK LOCK and it remote starts.

ONLY IF YOU HAVE A KEYFOB and not push to start. They can program your KEYFOB . You just have to tell them when they install it.

So you don't get the 3,000 ft range.

It's good for someone who just wants to start their car from inside the house.

HOWEVER, It will only start the car from as far as you can unlock the car with the key fob.
No one had to program mine on my 2021 Sienna. Both stock keyfobs do this.

I had this for 3 yrs before I sold the car it was in. The small knock for me was the battery drain. Put a new battery in the car and still had to start it at least once every 10 days.

I would still buy this remote start. Starting my car once every 10 days was nbd. The range was phenomenal, I could remote start my car around the block. It worked for all of my doors and trunk and it was $300 installed.

Was about to install similar setup Compustar with LTE module and the Drone. And my way to Best Buy to have it installed I Googled and noticed that on YouTube my car had a factory remote start already on it. I I'm still contemplating about disabling the original and adding something like this but with the mobile option on it..

I bought this a year ago and bestbuy installed it, but it stopped working after changing battery, any ideas?

Take it back to Best Buy. You should have a lifetime warranty on the install. Might just have to be reprogramed. You can find videos on YouTube on how HOW TO PROGRAM A COMPUSTAR REMOTE

The installer has to program your OEM REMOTES. He just did it without asking you

It was 220 in Oct 23. Normally 250 is the lowest it goes every year

I have a similar Best Buy Compustar unit installed in my 2022 Rav4. It works great with the exception that when you open the doors, the car stops and you have to restart it. It's a Toyota immobilizer issue with the push start cars. If you can live with this issue, it's a good purchase.

Yup, same issue with 2011 highlander push start… LTE version.

Had one installed in a Subaru forester 2018 but subys have an inherent problem with battery drain in the first place, compounded with the insurance OMDB module, the battery wouldn't last 2 days idle. Dumped the insurance and module and it works fine now.

I honestly have absolutely no idea why people find the "engine shutting off when the door opens" such a deal killer.
It cools your car.
Then you get in your car and turn it on..
Like you've literally been doing since you had your car.

This. Very much this. Never found that to be a hassle.

Folks who got this installed:
1) do you prefer to have the lights on as part of remote start or keep all lights off? I am thinking of keeping it stealth.
2) if the factory fob sounds horn when locking, can this system also sound the horn? Would be good to find the car in a busy parking lot.
3) if you remote start the car, can you only unlock with the compustar fob or can you use factory fob to unlock as well? Not a big feel and just wanted to know how it works.

Thx
