Doesn't say nonstop, so looking at march dates for the $999 pp option:
JFK assuming 1stop, flight ~500/p with TAP/turkish and other similar players or ~800/p with British airways/lufthansa/etc. tier airlines
2 nights of accommodations at Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre or similar in Venice ~95/nt
2 nights of accommodations at PopApartment (studio apartment) or similar in Florence ~91/nt
2 nights of accommodations at Hotel Pineta Palace or similar in Rome ~130/nt
Rail from Mestre to Florence (tourist class), Rail from Florence to Rome (tourist class) - no idea what tourist class is but looks to be about $25/ea for business class. So $100 for this

So rough calculation of 1750-2350 for $1998, Maybe a deal if they use the bigger airlines, but if you're doing this anyway, seems easy enough to book your own and save

Just got back from Rome/Florence/Venice two days ago. The place is swarming with tourists, and I wouldn't even think of doing this in the summer. 2 days per city is fine, although rushed.

This is one of those deals that going in blind and not wanting to do research, sure, good value, but this for sure smells like a Slickdeals extra kickback promotion type post.
Smells like $1,00 for a week in Italy.

In Oct 2022 I did Italy in 8 days: 2 in Como/Milan, 2 in Venice, 2 in Florence/Tuscany/Pisa, and 2 in Rome. I did a ton of homework and had all our hotels and excursions planned and booked on TripAdvisor and Viator well ahead of time. Everything was planned down to the hour. Used all high speed rail to travel between cities and booked hotels a short walking distance away from the train stations. Those were very busy and long days but we saw all the big stuff, so it can be done. Walked about 10 miles a day. Best vacation I've ever had and I did one helluva job planning it if I do say so myself.

the groupon package is $1000 on the low end and $2000 on the high end.

this seems like a great/good deal. what am i missing?

offseason (noveomber - march) tickets from chicago/NYC to italy is anywhere between $250-500 RT. high season (may - august) is usually around $1000. accommodation is where there's variance depending on how fancy of a place you want to stay in. the groupon options are 4 star hotels which seem to be worth it for the price

Decent price but wish they flew out of more airports like DFW or Denver. I went to those cities in November and they were not that crowded which was nice. The only thing that really sucks about traveling to Europe is that you have to pay to use bathrooms (unless you're in a nice restaurant that has them) but makes it difficult when you're out and about. Oh and almost no bathroom has toilet seats or paper... sucks if you have IBS or some other issue.

Rome has lots of gypsies so be careful about pitpockets there and outside the Vatican Basilica. Florence was the least crowded and very chill (my favorite spot). Venice was definitely the coldest but it was not that crowded and the water taxis make it easy to get around.

The price is good but I don't think 2 days is enough in any of those cities. It's like you unpack and barely get to enjoy because you're getting ready for another city.

Dang. Good deal. FWIW Florence is amazingly beautiful. However, you need to make a reservation for the museums and David if you have any hope of not waiting in hours long entry lines!
I went a while ago but the easiest way to make reservations was a museum card, it cuts the lines for you. IF you have the card you can see the mains and maybe David in 2 days easily. IF the gardens are open do that as well.
Thanks for reminding me I really, really, really need a vacation. Frown

Anyone comment on the cost/value of this package?
My wife and I did it in 2002, same cities, and it was $3500 back then. We were there 9 days, though, so the hotels were a bit more.

Having been to Italy five times, I would suggest that two days is not nearly enough for Rome.

Venice? Sure. Florence? Yep. Rome? No way.

I'm not sure if this travel agency will work with you, but I've booked travel with an agency that had a groupon where they'll let you change the return flight dates out further, providing you cover your own accommodations for the extra nights... and pay any additional fee if the flight is deemed to be more valuable. In the past, it's worked out where the return flight we ended up taking was CHEAPER than what they had proposed, making the package even cheaper. So we were on the hook for slightly less than the value of the deal plus the hotel stays. This gave us a lot more flexibility in where we could go.

In the five times we've traveled there, we've been to:

Rome (all five times)
Venice (twice)
Naples (three times)
Capri (twice)
Pompeii (twice)
Positano (once)
Verona (once)
Murano (once)
Amalfi (once)
Florence (once)

I was last in Rome around Valentine's Day of 2020. The city had gotten notably dirtier (to me, anyway) from when I was there just a few years prior.

Positano and Capri are a must-visit. Unfortunately, the ferry lines between Capri and Positano were not running (non-peak season / cold weather?) when we were last there.
Agree Rome is a must see and can easliy spend a week there. I was not a fan of Positano, one day was plenty for me ! Capri also just meh, but I also got real sea sick on the ride over Stick Out Tongue

This is for people who don't know how to travel. Go take a week in any of these cities at a nice private Booking listing and just live like the locals. There's no way you can do Rome in less than a week; might as well just go to Vegas and say you went to Paris and Venice in the same day.

You missed the Como and Lake Como Area!
5 trips to Rome? Wow... why? Go to Switzerland. Much nicer and prettier!
The time we went to Positano and Amalfi, it was a coin flip between that (going south) and doing Como and Cinque Terre.

My wife and I have discussed doing the Dolomites / Austria / Switzerland next time we go.

Yeah, Positano is just super scenic with the houses and the views. It's got an okay beach. Everything else is just shops. So no need for more than a day or so. We spent two or three nights on it (IIRC). Got kinda bored towards the end, so we just hopped a ferry down to Amalfi.

There's a bit more to do on Capri -- and we made it a point to stay the night there when we went in 2020. It was nice waking up and overlooking the bay of Naples.

I took motion sickness pills when we went ... and popped 'em shortly before we got on the ferry. I remember on our honeymoon, it was REALLY choppy. Some people started laughing at first... and then a moment later, you could hear people heaving.

That being said, I'm a total spaz and have used day trips or layovers to see more in one day than most do in a few. I'm really, really good at this stuff.

Slickdeals meet TripAdvisor. Tripadvisor meet slickdeals… if you ever been to Italy you will know, my favorite country to visit (after Israel but not these days sadly).

Israel is by far my favorite country to go to I used to go every year up until a few years ago 😞 France is a close second. I also used to go there every year

For solo flyers, nice deal. Brush up on public transportation in these cities and you'll be good to go!
P.S. I'm assuming decent airlines.
I'm a solo traveler and have never been to EU. Isn't this a purchase for 2 only?

Anybody?
