I think this would be a great buy for a homemade gift for a guitarist. Buy now, figure out project later. Necklace, shadowbox, little figurines, whatever!

guitar pics are a great general purpose tool for opening up gadgets and appliances. Remember the last time you ripped off a fingernail trying to pry a case or package open. use this instead.

picks are personal preference to be sure but generally you will find a lot more control with a smaller pick. If you haven't tried the dunlop Jazz IIIs, (red or black) give it a go. They make tortuga as well if you don't prefer nylon. They are just fine for strumming as well but they excel at single note articulation and preparing your hand to be ready for the next stroke (efficiency of motion).

These are great for shucking drives out of WD Mybook, Elements and similar external USB enclosures. I think I used 5 pieces to do that a few years ago on a WD Elements. I bought some Fender ones that were cheap back then.

I'm hooked on Dunlap max-grip .73 picks. Dunno why in my 50's my fingers seem slickery but can't stand using a non grippy texture pick anymore. These jumbos are definitely nice shucking tools for popping open newer laptops to upgrade hd/ram.

100%
I've tried a few Jazz III versions and stick to the reds (after drilling a hole in the center for grip). I tried the carbon fiber and tortex versions for added grip but i don't like the bite. Still the control is incredible with these (so long as you aren't strum heavy)

The dunlop tortex have been my go to since the 80s...

100% no matter what other picks I try, I always end up back at the tortex
