I've had a unit like this for the past 12 years. The big positive, is being able to put a load in to wash and dry before leaving for work (or going to sleep) and having it done by the time I'm back. The negative - it takes 3-5 hours for a load to go through wash and dry. I dont recall this ever being an issue for me, as we dont typically have anything that needs to be washed and dried quickly - but thats something to keep in mind when considering this machine

Do you have a unit with an actual heat pump? Lg and other brands have sold other models that don't use heat pumps. They use a cooling plate powered by water which causes it to take much longer to dry. I have one of those units as well, and i agree its not for everyone cause if you need something dried fast or just cleaned fast its just not going to happen. But the heat pump based units are much faster (wash and dry in 2-3 hours). Slightly slower than a traditional drier . But pretty darn close in my opinion and no need to move the close saves you some time as well(unless you need to take things out of the drier to air dry). The other big change that takes people a bit to get used to that all ventless units have is that they build up humidity in the machine. When you open it up once the cloths is done the cloths will almost feel a bit moist. This is just cause the air in the chamber is a bit humid. But it does confuse people the first time around.

Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

I have been using the GE Profile all in one for the last couple of months and it takes about 2 hours for a full load. These newer models use heat pumps to generate hot air. Older models of all in ones used a different technology. Check and see what yours is. May explain why it takes so long.

The GE Profile does not do very well with over loaded machines. And it works much better from a drying perspective if the laundry items are of more or less equal weight for drying e.g. jeans or towels may not dry as well when mixed with shirts. Keep in mind that this uses a fraction of the electricity of a traditional dryer though (I can see the difference on my Tesla Solar app which shows current draw). Using these machines almost forces you to rearrrange your wash schedule to do more smaller washes than once a week big washes. And you can time the wash so that it starts at a convenient time and is done when you wake up or get back from work. Start with dirty laundry and end with clean - with no need to move them between machines. This machine is also better at preventing wear on clothes as the heat is much gentler and is moist. You will not see any more static electricity. Thick socks may not come out 100% dry, but you just hang them up or spread them out for 30 mins and are good to go.
Bah. Aside from separating loads for wash/dry temp and color fastness, I usually throw all clothes together and set the dryer for mixed loads and get good results.

I have a natural gas dryer unit so the savings probably isn't going to add up as quickly if I switch to this unit. Thank you for the info though.

I see that it's energy star certified but how does it compare to traditional W/D's?

They do fine, just take a bit longer. So not really helpful if you need to do more than one load of laundry. Won't be as good as separate, especially the dryer. These are more intended for those with very limited space and no way to vent their dryer. If you have the space get separate (or stacked if you're space restricted that way).

I was tempted to get one just so I could be lazy and not have to remember to switch the clothes over to the dryer when they were done with the washer but if one 💩s out I only have to replace a less expensive single appliance in the future— and the dryer capacity is bigger on a single unit vs this.

But if you're space limited they've gotten much better than they used to be.
Slave saving and the fact that it only needs a 120v outlet. Giving people who don't have gas or 240v outlet to get a dryer. Perfect for apartments that don't have washer dryer. You can put it anywhere. That's the main reason why I'm looking at getting one. Being able to add it in anywhere.

Well you still do need a water line and drain but you can run a hose for the water line and put this near a drain.

I'm pretty sure it's a WM6998HBA... if so, HD is showing it for $1498 in my market...

https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-4-.../313550124

So, potentially cheaper through HD? (edit: Backordered until March 19th in my market)
This has terrible reviews.

Are there really that many people with access to this partner store to be posting here? Just truly curious.

GE Profile UltraFast was the very first one with a large heat pump, and this is the second. So yes if you have any other combo, it's a different older technology

If you recall, your washer only requires 120v. It is the dryer that needs 240 because of the heating element (dryers, electric ovens, electric heaters all tend to be energy hogs). This machine uses a heat pump to generate hot air for drying and can run at 120v (like a refrigerator in reverse). It does not put out as much heat as a regular dryer and takes slightly longer to dry but there is much less wear and tear to your clothes and no static at all.
You can get portable dryers, sometimes called RV dryers, that run on 120 volt. I have a larger Panda version that actually dries pretty good. So if you only have 120 volt like me, instead of trying to find 120 volt all in one, which are pricey and hard to find, I went with a full size washer and hung the Panda on the wall above it. Cost me about $700 total on sale. Best thing is the washer never goes out of balance on spin cycle, unlike tiny washers in all in one units.

This is ventless. Does that mean I don't need to clean the ducts or install it on this machine. We are remodeling soon and moving the laundry room upstairs. Might save alot in labor cost

Yup, no outside vent required, so you can literally put this machine anywhere you can plug a 120v appliance to.
