I've had a unit like this for the past 12 years. The big positive, is being able to put a load in to wash and dry before leaving for work (or going to sleep) and having it done by the time I'm back. The negative - it takes 3-5 hours for a load to go through wash and dry. I dont recall this ever being an issue for me, as we dont typically have anything that needs to be washed and dried quickly - but thats something to keep in mind when considering this machine

Do you have a unit with an actual heat pump? Lg and other brands have sold other models that don't use heat pumps. They use a cooling plate powered by water which causes it to take much longer to dry. I have one of those units as well, and i agree its not for everyone cause if you need something dried fast or just cleaned fast its just not going to happen. But the heat pump based units are much faster (wash and dry in 2-3 hours). Slightly slower than a traditional drier . But pretty darn close in my opinion and no need to move the close saves you some time as well(unless you need to take things out of the drier to air dry). The other big change that takes people a bit to get used to that all ventless units have is that they build up humidity in the machine. When you open it up once the cloths is done the cloths will almost feel a bit moist. This is just cause the air in the chamber is a bit humid. But it does confuse people the first time around.

Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

I have been using the GE Profile all in one for the last couple of months and it takes about 2 hours for a full load. These newer models use heat pumps to generate hot air. Older models of all in ones used a different technology. Check and see what yours is. May explain why it takes so long.

It's a heat pump dryer, so doesn't use much more electricity than a dehumidifier.
Technically, this is same design of the GE Ultrafast, same tech, just bigger capacity. They really are closed loop dehumidifiers

So you'd rather have two machines with double the chances of something breaking. Are you going to really handwash your clothes and use your dryer if the washer breaks?
Unlikely however. Look at lg repair failures. Like 2%, ge is 6% iirc

I will venture to say both equally reliable, but why change the set up for those who have the plumbing etc for current set up?

A new build, legit awesome. But if you have dedicated spots for the current washer dryer and hose and electrical etc why

Does it require venting?

This is ventless like the GE Ultrafast. In addition to ventless, its closed loop, doesnt suck or blow air into room.

You kind of have nothing if your washer (of a washer/dryer pair) goes down.

This deal could not have shown up at a better time! Was literally going to buy a new washer and dryer today! Our 12 year old Whirlpool Cabrio washer is beyond its last leg.
Lol... I have the cabrio too... I recently took a day out and took it apart, cleaned it, and replaced some parts including the pump... If I had to do it over, I would have bought this unit.

Thanks. May hold off on this then. Looks like the Samsung is 5.3 cu feet. May end up cheaper than this with discounts.

What are the results afterwards if I slightly overload the machine (load clothes and there is little to no space at the top of the drum) and then try to dry the clothes? You can typically get away with this since the dryer drum is typically larger than the wash drum (7-8cu ft. vs 4.5-5ft).

If I use the non heat pump, all in one washer/dryer sold in Europe or Asia, it takes a long time to dry, and comes out pretty damp. I typically have to fill it around 60 percent full if I want the clothes to come out mostly dry.

Anyone tried this with the GE equivalent machine get better results?

sidenote: GE aplliances has really turned things around ever since they got bought out by Haier. I'm surprised Haier doesn't sell their own rebadged version. They still sell the non heat pump washer/dryer combo units only.
the results of any washing machine being overloaded is that your clothes aren't getting properly cleaned. they need that room to let the suds swish through and around them as they wiggle and writhe

Fairly certain that the GE unit uses an LG heat pump.

Ohio doesn't appear to offer a single rebate
not available yet but it does look like Ohio is participating. I believe the only state that refused the funds was Florida.
