I've had a unit like this for the past 12 years. The big positive, is being able to put a load in to wash and dry before leaving for work (or going to sleep) and having it done by the time I'm back. The negative - it takes 3-5 hours for a load to go through wash and dry. I dont recall this ever being an issue for me, as we dont typically have anything that needs to be washed and dried quickly - but thats something to keep in mind when considering this machine

Do you have a unit with an actual heat pump? Lg and other brands have sold other models that don't use heat pumps. They use a cooling plate powered by water which causes it to take much longer to dry. I have one of those units as well, and i agree its not for everyone cause if you need something dried fast or just cleaned fast its just not going to happen. But the heat pump based units are much faster (wash and dry in 2-3 hours). Slightly slower than a traditional drier . But pretty darn close in my opinion and no need to move the close saves you some time as well(unless you need to take things out of the drier to air dry). The other big change that takes people a bit to get used to that all ventless units have is that they build up humidity in the machine. When you open it up once the cloths is done the cloths will almost feel a bit moist. This is just cause the air in the chamber is a bit humid. But it does confuse people the first time around.

Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

I have been using the GE Profile all in one for the last couple of months and it takes about 2 hours for a full load. These newer models use heat pumps to generate hot air. Older models of all in ones used a different technology. Check and see what yours is. May explain why it takes so long.

I have the slightly larger version of this model and it is farking incredible. Being able to put in clothes before bed and wake up to clean/dry/not wrinkled laundry is amazing. I'll never go back to two units. And it is ventless and you can plug it in anywhere. 10/10 would buy again. Plus cheaper to run. Win-win.
Plug it in anywhere that already has hot & cold water and a drain, for sure. Smilie

Speed doesn't matter. You can put your clothes in right before you go to bed or go to work, and then you can take them out whenever convenient. What matters more is having the convenience to be able to start on a load of laundry right before going to work or going to bed, which a traditional setup doesn't allow you to do because then your clothes smell if you leave it wet overnight.
We're basically listing the pro and cons of the units. There are advantages to both setups. I didn't mention the obvious benefit of the single unit because that's...literally the main pro and everyone else has already mentioned it.

To say that "speed doesn't matter" is kind of silly. Everyone has different lifestyles and needs.

But in the winter isn't it dumping cool air into the house? Thus making your heating bill go up?

Is there a way to use the existing dryer vent to pull in warm air from the outside as the heat pumps heat source?
I have the GE Ultrafast, my gas bill went from $240 to $140 year over year this month in Chicago. Whats happening is you are not dumping 9k cubic feet of treated air outside per load. Its closed loop heatpump, so its not sucking in air or blow air out. When you vent air with old machine, the house sucks IN air from cracks/windows/doors, and your HVAC has to work harder to treat that cold air. Same goes for AC in summer. This machine is legit real, with tangible savings. 9k cubic feet of air is about 1k sq-ft of american home. I do 12-15 loads a week, thats like 12k sq-ft of living space that isnt treated anymore per week. I dont even know why GE and LG dont market this machine saves you real HVAC cost. The machine will pay for itself in 4 years and gives your HVAC a break working less. Its a dam no brainer.

What is this voodoo science? Washes and dries all in one machine? Crazy.

yes, you can wash only, dry only, or both. Or just pause it in dry and pull out some clothes.

Jesus that's crazy'

In Ohio I pay like 50 dollar average year round. Granted I have an air proof coffin for a house with r60 insulation in attic. (I do insulation as living so went ham on this house when I bought it as I only paid material cost, labor and rig was free from my work)

It used to be like 20-30 but ya know inflation. During peak it hit 100! Energy rates tripled too. We paid 4.4kwh now it's like 10kwh and I'm sad

I'm jealous. My house was built in 1969. All I can do is improve insulation when I renovate room by room

I have a smaller LG all-in-one heaptpump unit in the garage like this for my mother in law. It works pretty well, the only complaint is that it's about a 3 hour cycle to wash and dry everything, and clothes don't come out "crispy dry", but slightly damp dry. Plus they get more wrinkled. That being said, I'd love to get a larger setup for my main washer/dryer upstairs, and wonder how this compares to the new GE.

Hmmm just a heads up for those interested in local utility rebates, I just looked at mine and my city utility (Seattle) does offer a $175 rebate for qualified products, but noticed the GE Profile (direct competitor to this LG) just got approved in mid Dec of 23 and it has been out for almost a year now?

I'm sure the LG will get on the approved list eventually, but does anyone with more experience on the subject know if you can get the rebate retroactively? I would hope so. I imagine a similar situation (delayed approval) in other major US cities.

I've owned LG all in one for last 3-4 years and bought the GE all in one about year ago.. The older LG had several design flaws. One of the biggest was no lint filter.. This caused build up of lint in the drying element fan and also caused lint to stay in the machine and dirt particles to build up in the water pump eventually destroying the water pump (I learned how to replace the $20 pump myself as I had to do it about once every 6 months, I've replaced it about 15 times now, each with brand new OEM and even some better non-oem, none surviving long term).

As far as my GE, time will tell.. Right now, I have ZERO complaints about GE.. Lint filtration works great, love the auto soap and softener dispensers (they hold a LOT too). Also, this one drys in much less time than the Older LG all in one did. The older LG still used a heating element and cold water to remove moisture, the GE uses the heat pump..

Above being said, I'd never go back to anything other than all in one.. So much nicer to put load in and then come back and they are clean and dry.. I now operate both the old LG and the new GE at same time (both run off same 120 circuit, same water pipes, and same drain pipe no problem. Its like having 2 sets of washing machine and dryers.. I still have to replace the water pump periodically in the LG and maybe once a year clean out the heating element fan but its still running several years later with these being the only issues..

Disregarding the price, is the GE model superior to this LG model? Why?
From my casual research over the past year it seems LG is at the top of the pecking order for washers in general. I'd argue this model likely gets clothes cleaner. The water jets are a big boon and it can use steam during its wash cycle. The GE has neither, but oddly, only it has a specific dewrinkle dry cycle.

Until there's concrete reviews it's really a question mark, but I plan to take a chance on this. I think it will be a huge quality of life boon and encourage me do smaller loads more frequently. Plus it has the potential of introducing enough efficiency to outsource some of the burden to a housekeeper without exponentially increasing the cost.

lint is supposed to be flushed out with the water into the drain, however, some will stay in the gasket - so it needs to be wiped off after the dry cycle and some of it will be in the filter on the bottom - that needs to be cleaned every few weeks (or every few months if you dont use the unit that often / dry non linty stuff)
I assume you use a lint roller to remove what left after dry. Left facial tissues and short pet hairs are tough to remove without a conventional dryer. Thanks for the comment, but I'll pass for now.

It's still worth it when you do it. I've met people who skimp or won't pay anything to upgrade insulation and bills are stupid, but then you got people like my sister who has that free poor people utility, brb 10 a month PIP leaving all windows and doors open in winter bc heat is free and electric is same in summer

It digust me. But I tell everyone, do what you can, itl pay back in time and even if you don't live there long enough, itl make things quieter from outside and other benefits

+1 on soap and fabric softener dispenser, I believe that's why my old washer started having issues, my gf would use legit max amount every load brb 2 pairs socks worth.

So I paid a little extra for my new lg washer w auto dispenser, itl save me so much money over long run and help wear tear on incorrect soap amount in long run.
