Just for some insight, bought this for my cousin around BF and it's been holding up pretty nicely. Only big downside is that the battery is average, not bad but not good either.

Plays most of the games well on 1080p, except for AAA titles of course, but that was a given and he didn't intend to in the first place.

Brightness, despite being 250-270-nits, is enough for him as he meant to keep this primarily indoor. The color coverage despite being 45% NTSC, doesn't look that bad according to him.

As long as you know what you want from this device, you're gonna be satisfied.

I highly recommend buying open box at this time of the year. A majority of the items are barely if used at all. Holiday return period ends 1/16 or thereabouts. Many many new presents returned. Added bonus returning at any Best Buy is a breeze. Only time they charge restocking anymore is big TVs and such around Super Bowl. For obvious reasons. So yes YMMV but it's a win-win if it's a bad one return it. PS factory warranty usually applies, special cases like Dell that count from first day of purchase may be a fight but the warranty holds.

Not really a positive thing, although I'm sure this RTX 2050 will be fine for 1080p at lower settings, and especially older games.

Not a terrible deal- but much more compelling if you can find one as an open box. Open Box good nearby me is $404 but of course that's gonna be YMMV.

Definitely not something I'd pick up for any modern titles outside of eSports, but for some older games / indie games it should still hold up fairly decently.

Personally I'd recommend something with a minimum of 16gb of ram (32gb preferred in my opinion).

Hrm... Looking for a cheap gaming laptop. This is pretty much as fast as a GTX 1650 with perfunctory RTX. You get DLSS with it at least. So the fading edge of modern.

I'm pretty sure this only has one m. 2 slots (Cheap bastards at HP), so no easy upgrade there. Needs another $18 8GB DDR5 module.
