I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

If you have a copy of the chat then you have a pretty good case to get your credit if Assurant does not send it. If Assurant sends you a check for the full amount (i.e. $700+trade in) then that is just crazy because then everybody will start exploiting that. If Assurant just sends you the trade in value then f you have a copy of the chat then you could make the case that Spectrum should credit the other $700.
Yes, I do have a screenshot for the chat

it's completely messed up and scam process, after I returned the new phone due to the delay from Assurant "10 days processing" I have been told that I won't get my old phone instead I will get $7 for the credit and no promo.
in this process you will be between losing your old phone or paying in full if trade in get rejected for any reason. adding to this too much communications and wasting of time.

Ali, how did they say you would get your credit? It sounds like your situation is related to vbalakr's. You returned your device so Spectrum is saying that you will only get the trade in value and not the promo. vbalakr's order was cancelled for some reason and they are telling him Assurant will send him the payment, which I am assuming will not include the promo $700.

Also Ali, did you ask Spectrum if you can cancel your return and keep the device and get the credit? I am not sure how you shipped it, but if Spectrum will honor the credit if you do not return the device then you could potentially contact the shipper and have the shipment returned.

Traded in a Walmart G play 2023 purchased online, pick up instore. IMEI was not scanned and unable to activate. Phone was in transit, went to Walmart with BOX to return rebuy, they refused without phone. Faxed and email Straight on Sunday still no response. As of now I am unable to activate. Check Spectrum trade in link and .....Assessment passed inspection 711.00 is confirmed.

I contacted them and they told me that. they processed the trade in after the return so there is no way to cancel the return or return the old phone.

Somebody earlier said they checked their IMEI and it was clear on the Striaght Talk website and it was rejected. I wonder if the information everybody is sharing regarding the situation is accurate or if there is something else going on with the phones and how Assurant is clearing them.

Or maybe it is a bit of both and Assurant is not being consistent with their checks.

Update on my drama. Posting in case others find it helpful.

Sent two trade-ins on 1/29 (Metro S23FEs). 1st trade in delivered on 2/1 as per USPS. Second was stuck from 1/29 to 2/3 as "in possession of item" on USPS. It started moving again on 2/3 and was delivered on Monday morning (2/5) as per USPS.

Spectrum acknowledged first trade in and said:
Your device was received at our warehouse on 02/02/2024. It should be assessed by 02/04/2024. No assessment or update, but I now see $898.41 (should be $880, but maybe got some sort of tax back? I'm in Wisconsin.)

Second trade still says In Transit - Your device is on it's way to our warehouse!

I did a chat and they are going to transfer the credit balance back to my credit card in 3-5 business days.
Thank you for the update. I'm in a similar situation where they received my trade in and supposed to process it by 2/3 but I have not received any update and checking the trade-in status online still show no progress.

After seeing your post, I checked my spectrum billing account and saw that the credit came in, slightly more than what I was owed (probably some tax returned). This whole mail trade in process is stressful. I think next time, I'll just stick to in-store trade in.

How are they issuing you the credit? Is Spectrum giving you a credit for your trade in or is Assurant sending you a check?

What is not making sense to me is that if you just mailed back your phone yesterday and they have not yet received it, how have they already rejected the trade in credit to your account if they have not issued a refund or processed the return? I would still keep an eye on your Spectrum account, you might get lucky and the promotion posts to your account before they process the return. I am always skeptical of anything Spectrum customer service says since every time I call them they usually tell me something different.

they should issue a trade in credit toward future buying but they're a scammers, they will mail a $7 that's everything.

My credit has not posted to my account yet, but last year I did a trade in and I was refunded the tax on the promotion amount. Hoping for the same this year. The extra stress this year could have been avoided if USPS just did proper scans of the packages. They should not have handed off packages to Assurant without the delivery scan.

If not, that means Spectrum is pocketing the overcharged tax amount ie tax fraud

That is the only reason that I did not go ahead and initiate a return. Today would have been day 14 for me and fortunately the credit hit today. If it had not I would be stuck in a tough spot like you, I did not want to get stuck with this device if the trade in was rejected and they would not honor the $700 promotion. I was going to call them today and ask if I could mail in a second device if the first one was stuck in transit somewhere.

Well technically I think it depends if they are considering it an account credit or discount on purchase, but on the receipt it appears to be a discount on the purchase (i.e. similar to how it is processed in store) even though they call it a credit.

Can you please provide the trade in link? Thanks!
They e-mail you a link specific to your trade in. The main link is https://spectrumtradein.com/ but you have to have a trade in code.
