I have been stuck in this situation with other phone companies where they will not unlock unless you have had the phone linked/active on the line for a certain number of days even if paid in full.

Pre-ordered gray base S24 256GB (double storage bonus) online on 1/29 with trade in of $50 Walmart AT&T moto g play that I ordered online and picked up from Walmart store. My credit card declined charges from Spectrum on 1/31 so had to tell my bank it is not a fraud charge and then contacted Spectrum chat to charge my card again. Charge went through and the S24 shipped later the same day. S24 was delivered on 2/1 and I shipped my trade-in the same day.
While my trade-in was en route to Assurant, people started reporting their moto g play trade-in was getting denied due to "anti-theft." Checked on AT&T website it allows me to input my trade-in's IMEI and choose phone plans, and checked with several IMEI checker websites that this IMEI is also clean and not blacklisted.
USPS delivery took a while but its tracking finally showed my trade-in was "Delivered, Individual Picked Up at Postal Facility at LEWISVILLE, TX 75029" on 2/8. Assurant website also updated saying they received the trade-in on 2/8, and that it should be assessed by 2/12. Fast forward to 2/13, 14 days from shipment of S24 and the last day I can initiate return of it, no update on Assurant website and my trade-in has not been assessed. I was seriously contemplating initiating the return process of S24, but decided not to avoid further complications and hope for the best my trade-in gets approved. Worst case if Assurant denied my trade-in, I was willing to fight them with my video documentation of factory resetting my trade-in phone showing there are no security locks on it, and then immediately packing it in a shipping box. Fortunately for me today, morning of 2/15, I received email from Assurant stating they approved my trade-in and that I will be receiving a trade-in credit of $700 + 11. Now I am just waiting for the credit to show up on my account.
All in all, this Spectrum online trade-in process was too nerve-racking with too many potential risks of it going all wrong. It was not worth going through for the pre-order double storage bonus. And now that the pre-order bonus is gone, there is almost no reason not to do in store trade-in instead if possible. In fact, I just bought another Walmart moto g ($40 straight talk one this time) and used it to trade it in for another S24 in store today. The trade in was approved on the spot, credit was applied to the purchase immediately, and I was out of the store in less than 30 min. It was a much simpler and smoother process than the online trade in.
Thank you OP for posting this amazing deal and best of luck to you all for getting the deal.

Today I will be upgrading my brand new 2nd and 3rd lines S24 I added yesterday. Going to a P8P and an S24+ and going to call it good. No MM for me but it will be a wash with two nicer phones, one of which I plan to use after the 60 days.
I think the problem is when I moved 6 months ago, I went in store to set up Internet service with spectrum and they were offering one free phone line.
They screwed up a number of things, and it had always said "128GB S22+" under my spectrum account (as I was using the phone up until I sent it to Assurant for trade in).
So I'm thinking Assurant is just going off spectrums information, if you already had the phone linked to your account.
Otherwise there's no reason why the phone should have come up as 128gb instead of 256gb. Still have the box, with the IMEI/etc. on it and it says 256GB as does the settings menu in the phone (which j took pictures of before sending the phone in).
Again, just going to accept the adjusted trade in value and move on.
Definitely going to do this in store in the future, to avoid this type of thing again.
Yes, agreed they should have but people have to think about scenarios that get played out on minimal paid employees there who really don't give a shiet.

You can imagine if you went through the process and Assurant processed the trade in within a week and you had not read anything about the Walmart issue then you probably would be fine with how everything went. That was my experience last year. This year stressed me out for several days, but like you it worked out in the end.
