This has essentially been the "regular" price since late 2022 (according to the 3 C's).

How or why it constantly gets shilled so hard by the "deal" posters is beyond me.

Last time I got nishiki rice from amazon (15 lb bags), there were tons of grain mites in it. I got several bags and all of them had it.

I've never received a bag that already had bugs showing. I always freeze the rice for at least 48 hours and have never had an outbreak afterwards, even after a month or 2 of air-tight storage. If it's buggy I'll do the return.

Yes. This brand is notorious for them. I recommend you freeze for a couple of days.
