If they are not made in Japan they are not worth buying. Huge quality difference. I have eneloops that are 18 years old that still work great!

There is a specific factory in Japan that Fujitsu now owns (FDK), they make the best NiMH batteries in the world--aka the gold standard. I have some Fujitsu ones. Panasonic licenses out of that factory via Eneloop, so does Ikea. Ikea Ladda are equivalent of Eneloop Pro, so if you have one of those in your hood those are probably the best batteries/price ratio I could ever find. I 100% agree on your statement I have Eneloops over 10 years old still clicking, and EARLY made in Japan Amazon ones before they put them in some nameless factory in the jungle somewhere to the lowest bidder who I am sure employs 100% proper labor standards and environmental disposal.

However at a < buck a battery the Amazon ones if they last 5 years, well I guess that isn't bad and the discharge/IR (Internal resistance) doesn't pop it will be lower lifetime cost than an Eneloop because of the obvious made in a legit factory cost more $$$. With that said a 1 year warranty isn't exactly awe inspiring, at that warranty getting disposable AA seems to be a better deal.

These are garbage. I bought two 8 packs, one was 800mah the other 850mah. After using them ONCE, 6 out of 16 no longer charge. I never mixed them either, not in the charger nor in a device. Assuming only 4 of them will work past at least one charge, still an OK price. Like others have said, probably better off buying the ladda batteries from IKEA if you have one near you

While I agree that the quality is inferior, the use case should also have some say in whether or not these are worth it. If you're a professional photographer or trying to power the world's brightest flashlight, then yeah, don't buy these. But for me, I've had made in China Amazon brand rechargables just like these going on four years now and they haven't gone bad. I use them in my TV and sound bar remotes, my trackball and wireless mice at home and work, and (AA varieties) in my Xbox and wireless Switch and PC controllers. They last for months with daily use in those applications. They might be terrible quality, but they're the cheapest on the market and perfectly suit what I use them for, so...

On the quality topic, I've got eneloops that power my xbox controller for double the length of the China alternatives, including the Ikea ones (most of my supply).

Bought these about a year and a half ago. While I wouldn't say there garbage there only around 60% as good as the name brands. Would not buy again!

Energizer rechargeable battery is made in either Japan or USA. It is very good alternative to Eneloop not junk Amazon brand. They are often sold in Sam's Club, Costco, or local retail stores.

These Amazon's are fine, they're not as good as the eneloops, but they're cheap enough that I've bought a few hundred of them between aa and aaa and only use disposables now in devices that refuse to run with the lower voltage of NiMH, so in that regard they don't have to be as good as Eneloops, just good enough to replace all/most disposables.

I bought two of the 4 bay Panasonic chargers that come with eneloop cells back when they were made in Japan, and while those are great for my DSLR's strobe in everything else there's little difference. I've now got the Powerowl 10+2 bay charger as well so I've always got a few dozen fully charged batteries on standby.

Oh, and as far as life, my oldest cells are from 2014, I've had 2 fail and they both happen to be Eneloops, they burst and leaked, something I didn't think NiMH did.

these are fine for remotes and stuff
for powering more important and critical equipment, just use eneloops

Bought Amazon rechargeables. They are not good. Capacity great drops after 1 year and they leak power like crazy. 50% after just 1-2 months. If you plan to use this in a flashlight or something good luck... The battery will self drain itself.

I have 10 year old eneloop that continue to work

Like you, I've had Eneloops for more than ten years and they're still performing at a high level. Both Energizer and Duracell are also quality options although a far second/third best, whereas Ikea's batteries are more middle-of-the-road, similar to Sony's. I wouldn't suggest going for Tenergy, however. Additionally, there are those quirky rumors suggesting that certain brands are just rebranded Eneloops, but in my experience, these claims don't really hold water. After exploring various labels to find a bargain, I've come full circle and realized that Eneloop remains the most reliable choice for me.

These are still good after 2-3 years in my old panasonic home phone. Plan on using in devices if left not used at least won't leak like crappy duracell.
