Yes, I have 6 of these and some thunk really loud in addition to making a strong vibration throughout the case.
data center drives are insanely loud and vibrates like crazy. not for your regular desktop use lol put em in nas or osmething and far away from anywhere you can hear.
I emailed the seller on NewEgg and they confirmed they include the same 5 year warranty.

Running HDDScan on one disk I received today. Should we expect to see some > 500ms blocks? I am 2% into the whole scanning process, getting around 500 >500ms blocks, 0 bads though.

Please do post the result after plugging internally to the desktop. I'm curious to see if an external dock would give false positives of bad blocks.
I got mine finish testing last night and it had 0 issues. I'm running an extended on my second unit already. Also, did you try checking your warranty from WD? I checked one and it says it ends in July 2024, so if it doesn't work, you can just send it back to WD for a replacement?

Got my drives in today. Both are 35k hours. Not too crazy about that but they passed the sea tools quick test with no issues.

Moved a 75GB file (Reflect PC Backup) from a NVMe 1TB USB enclosed SSD, to the "new" HDD, in an enclosed USB case, and got 223MB/s transfer rate.

Is the drive partitioned? Is there any data on it? Generally, no. That is a very bad sign. On a modern, healthy drive, you don't want to see anything worse than "green" blocks (<150ms). The problem is, HDDScan runs on Windows. If Windows (or another program) accesses the drive, it can cause false high readings. This is why I prefer to run it from a live session of Hiren's BootCD. That way, I know there's not a bunch of extraneous programs running in the background, which could significantly affect the results. However, I realize this is more complicated than what the average person would want to do.

My suggestion would be to save the log of which sectors are slow, run the scan a second time, then compare the logs and see if the very slow LBAs (>500ms especially) are often the same. If so, it likely is a problem with the drive.

Wow I haven't checked the warranty. I'll do this when I get home later today. Thanks!

Glad to know that an external dock caused the false positives on the bad blocks. I learn something new everyday

I'm running the HDD still with an external dock but running different software (HD Sentinel Pro). I'm on my 2nd drive and it's got like 3 hours left from my extended test.

Ordered 5, the second one I go to test can't even format. Tried it on the Synology and got it to say it crashed. Plug it into a Windows machine and it tells me the drive is busy. Pretty sure I got a dud. Not feeling too great after having the second one die. Third one is running an extended test now, should know something in 24 hours or so. Anyone else seen something like this?

Trust but verify. If/when verification fails, then return! These are "used" drives regardless of marketing noise.

This deal is still going on (even though the status on this thread says expired). Having said that I am hoping this will work in a Synology DS 220+
