Only downside of this it's basically an Air Conditioner with a water tank, you need to create good ventilation and the amount of space it takes. I like Rheem, but that was the gripe about this unit. If you got your water heater in a small closet then this is a bad idea, if you have it in your garage then that's doable. Plus more electronics and smart features, the more options for things to break. With that said, Rheem has an excellent warranty and if you can return it yourself then you're more or less covered. If you let the "pro plumber" do it for you they'll charge you to return the old one and get the new one, plus draining it, etc. So that's the only downside, BUT you do not need to use their pro installer to get the warranty work done, if you can find a certified plumber who doesn't price gouge then they provide a voucher that will adequately cover the labor charges.

This is eligible for Bidens Green initiative
Rebate.

But be warned, at my locale, it requires installation by an approved contractor from a list supplied by my Water company. So it may with you too.

I forget the price Home Depot plumbers quoted me, but it was too high for me. Something like $1400 install and they don't run the electrical line needed. More than the price of the water heater as I recall.

A family member worked for a call center and basically said that these high end models break faster than the basic water heaters. It's great that they have that 10 year warranty but you will be paying for multiple installations of the replacements.

Thanks. I almost went this route. It's pretty expensive. I'll wait till the tech mature more and unit gets cheaper

Is this the professional line or the consumer line? I was told by my plumber that there are two different ones.

Do your state have any rebate program? I think mine has like $600 plus the 30% back from the tax credit so my situation is like $2000 off from what they quote.

They use the same circuit size as a standard electric water heater, although use less power while running. Plumbing connections may be on sides so slightly more complicated. They do require a drain or pump for condensate removal, perhaps that's where the addtl cost comes in

An approved contractor is not required for the federal tax credit, but is often required for state/power co rebates.

I don't know where all the cost is, but I wrote that off immediately. Not everyone is going to have an outlet where the water heater is going either. But it was additional, whatever is needed.

Yes, we do have the tax credit as far as I know.

Do it yourself. It only takes the "Pros" a whole 2 hours (or less) to install a water heater. $700 per hr is highway robbery. I did mine myself and I converted from a Gas WH to this without issue. Its still running strong 3 years later and it cools my hot Florida garage in the summers. Win-Win

I've had one for a few years now, situated in an unfinished basement. Provides welcome cooling/dehumidification in Summer but makes the basement even colder during the Winter! Econet provided remote monitoring/operation capability but that broke when I switched to T Moble HI, I believe the 5G wifi network is an issue and I need to set up a 2.4G network as well
