Plus it includes road hazard for those 5 years as well. DT that is extra. Im not saying Costco beats DT on every tire they share but after fees usually Costco ends up slightly better.

It is also likely they will tell you that the treads are too worn down on your other tires and you will need a whole new set while they only credit you one on sale tire.
I'm usually a big fan of Costco, but their tire center policies are abysmal and they won't do flat repair without an appointment. The last time I tried to get a flat repair, it was a 4 day wait.
Second, as others have mentioned, the free road hazard is a huge value….. IF you ever need it. Two weeks after I got my tires, got a screw in the sidewall. Took it in, no appointment, fixed it. Replacement cost was based on tire wear. Cost me about $15. Probably a bit much, but without the warranty it would have been $175.
As for the comment that they won't replace just one, not too many shops will unless they are almost brand new like mine was. Unsafe to put tires across from each other with different wear. And they will show you how much tread is left with their gauge and you can google tread depths to see if they are being honest. They have never been dishonest to me.

Their warranty is prorated based on how much you paid per tire after discount and how much thread you have left. So let's say a tire is $250, buying 4 would be $1000-$100 promo=$900. So it would be $225 per tire that you paid. If you have a nail or egg in sidewall the very next day, you will have to pay $25 right out gate because the price for that tire is $250 and you only paid $225 per tire because of the promo. The promo only apply to a set of tires and since you're only getting one tire due to warranty, they don't have a coupon for just a single tire to adjust for it.
They will only warranty out a tire if tire is unrepairable or a "road hazard". Costco, discount tires, sams club, etc., will not give out warranty credits for 4 tires when only 1 is bad and you need to replace the other 3 because the thread is low. If you want warranty for all 4 tires and get promo discount, just put a tiny nail close to sidewall and it force them to warranty it.
Your experience might be for that location or region. The location I go to take walk in service until about 5:00pm because they still have to do their 6:00/7:00 final appointments before warehouse close. IMO discount tires is better because they have more bays, more employees which means wayyyy faster service and better warranty since they will give 100% warranty credit and not prorated on thread. If you don't have a discount tire near, than costco is your next best option.
It all depends on condition of tires and how much threads you have left. If your car parked outside, the tires will start to crack or dry rot faster due to heat and direct sunlight vs parking in a garage. Also, every tire have a "wear bars" to show when it's time to replace. If you're very close or at those bars, replace it. If it snow or rain frequent in your area, I would replace before it even get close to it because I don't want to risk my life or others.
I drove in with a used rim I had bought and asked if they could swap the broken one with the new one. I had the tire sensor too. Both factory. They took my car but because I was a walk in he said he was too busy that day to do it. I said no problem take your time.
The next morning I get a call saying my car would be ready at noon. I went and they didn't charge me anything. Not a cent. I thought for sure they would charge me something. I'm always going to buy my tires there.
I recently purchased a minivan with a rebuilt title, everything looks great and drives fine. I saw the before pictures, airbags were not deployed, so all the damage was superficial and professionally repaired. Cooper Tires all the way around, with lots of life remaining.
Just got back from a 560 mile round trip drive (70 mph highways, where everybody typically drives 75-85 mph). Started getting a very profound vibration toward the end of the first leg on this trip, that forced me to keep the speed 65 mph or less to minimize the vibration.
Long story short: I had a tire blowout (belt separation) at the beginning of the return trip. And another 100 miles after that, another tire started thumping at high speed (60+ mph) and I had to keep my speed down to 55 mph or less to make it home.
When I got home I jacked up the vehicle and found another tire with a separated belt bulging through the tread.
I'm having all 4 tires replaced now as I have no way of knowing the integrity of the remaining two tires.
I've been driving the vehicle for months on the highway and at high speeds. I looked at the tires and the tread is great, but the sidewalls are dry and crackly. I looked at the date codes on the sidewall, and found that the tires are about 8 yrs old.
All the online sources recommend replacing tires that are 6+ yrs old regardless of mileage. Now I know they have a vested interest in selling tires, but in my case seeing the dried out and crackling sidewalls made me think twice about driving this vehicle at high speeds. Especially since my kids are starting to drive now.
I decided to get all four replaced at Walmart for like $350 total. Yeah they're not Michelins or Bridgestones, but they're new.
