610$ for open box excellent;; very tempting.. BUT reading the neg reviews, turns me off a bit
Make sure the negative reviews aren't people trying to run Baldur's Gate 3 maxed, or something like that.
This laptop can do light gaming, run older titles (5+ years old) decently, or run newer titles at low graphics presets, but the 780M is in no way a replacement for a dGPU.

Also, to make open box a compelling argument for me, it would need to be $549 or lower. Chopping off just $90 is not worth it.

Damn near firesale at this price point. Mind you the 7940hs has the 780M IGPU which is basically equal to whats in the Rog Ally, and that is marketed as a "gaming" handheld.. so this is a quite capable iGPU if you running at 1080P mid or 720p high settings.

I do wonder if this huge discount means there is a x13/x16 refresh coming soon.. Would love to see it paired with a OLED screen finally and leverage the 4000 mobile series nvidia cards...
I feel adding 40xx gfx will increase the weight by another pound. This only weighs 2.87 lbs, which is has a different (usually more business focused) audience. The 780m is capable for those who want some light gaming while away from home, better battery life and lighter weight device.

This is exactly why I got it. Light gaming is just a bonus when I want to spin up some older titles.

Why is a convertible with no discreet graphics have the ROG branding? Is there an expensive docking station with an eGPU for it?

Yes, but it's super expensive. The ROG XG Mobile.

Agreed. went with the brand new to replace my aging Surface Pro X. Need 20% to justify open box purchases.
I will miss the cellular on the Pro X, as well as the excellent surface pen 2 writing. Hopefully the pen experience on X13 will be decent. Already have a Steam Deck OLED, but the wifey has been using it on our trips more often, so I'm left reading a book. LMAO

Note that, if you want to upgrade the SSD, it's a 2230 M.2 NVMe drive. They are physically smaller (and more expensive) then the standard 2280 size.

I have the 2022 version which has pretty much the same keyboard I think and I LOVE the typing experience. It's actually quite similar to my thinkpad with great travel for such a compact laptop.

Same size as what's in the Steam Deck, so relatively easy to find nowadays, but yes, more expensive.

Bought one for my kiddo graduating HS and college in the fall. She isn't a heavy gamer, phasmophobia roblox and lethal company with her siblings and I think this will run any of those no problem. I wish it had 1tb but will suit our needs more than enough.

Nice deal. This is just a thin & light laptop disguised as a gaming laptop. Specs are pretty good for general use.

Hmm I placed open box excellent this afternoon but now wondering if I have to cancel and place another order for new one.

BTW, Is that warranty period less for open box items compared to new one ? Or other disadvantages
