The LG UR8000 is a decent TV overall. It looks good in a dark room thanks to its high native contrast ratio and great black uniformity, making it a good choice for watching movies. It's okay for watching sports or shows in a bright room, but it's a bit limited by its low peak brightness, so it can't handle a lot of glare in a bright room. It also has poor off-angle viewing, so it's not a good choice for a wide seating arrangement. Finally, it's a decent gaming TV with low input lag and a quick response time, but most sizes lack any advanced gaming features, so it's not ideal for competitive gamers.
Doesn't sound bad for the price. Was it ever originally this high though?
This is the UR7800 60Hz, not the UR8000 120Hz

The seems to ne the norm nowadays. It just depends how bad.
I had a Sony failed 25 months after purchase and Sony customer service informed me that I shouldn't have expected the TV to last longer than 2 year !!
My Sony also was shot after 3 years of low usage. My TCL R615 75" still has great picture after 4 plus years

That's planned obsolescence for you! That said, I have an LG plasma that's still going strong! 😆
FYI to all. There was a software update on this and the 120hz of the TV.
LG pulling a Vizio and being scumbags.
They added yet another setting for stealing your data. There are now 4-5 fields deep in the settings (to prevent you from finding them) to harvest your data.
If you don't need this connected to the net, I highly recommend you don't connect it. I need to because I use Homebridge to turn the TV on and off.
Still enjoying that great picture quality on my Panasonic plasma!
Panasonic should have continued Plasma, only thing I disliked was the glare of lights, other than that it's still looks as good as today it was bought.
Same here LG plasma from 2009 lots of hours still looks like new.
I got one of the newest plasmas made. Bought my house in 2013 and bought the TV in 2014. It's no longer in a basement, so managing light/glare is a bit harder, but it's still worth it. One of these days I'll replace it with a 4k OLED, but until that day hits, I'll save my money. :-D
