I just upgraded to the Denon AVR-X4700H from a Yamaha RX-A770, and kind of surprised by how much hotter the Denon runs, even on eco mode, compared to the Yamaha. Same speakers, same volume level.
Does Yamaha use efficient Class D amps, and Denon use traditional amps? That's the only explanation I can think of.
