i disagree with the above posters who think this isn't a good sign up bonus. this comes with a companion pass for a little over 12 months. so it all depends on how you'll use this.
Thirty thousand points for spending $4k is terrible. I got 75k points just two months ago. Anything less than 50k is not worth it and even that is on the low side. Wait if you can.
Edit: The companion pass is worth it if you plan to travel at least twice with a companion. The extra 45k points I got are worth ~$550.
Wish it was two years. This would be less than one year.

I've never used companion pass before so bare with my question. If I get this and get the companion pass, is the Feb 2025 the book by date or the travel date? I want to take my son to DC for Spring break in Apr 2025 so was wondering if this would work. Thank you.

Travel before date. It wont let you attach your companion after that date.

How bad of practice is it to cancel your card and re-apply every 2 years?
I do It every 2 years. 1 Business card and 1 personal as long as you earn over 120k points you get the companion pass for the rest of that year plus the next.
How soon do you get the companion pass to use once spent is met? Considering it's only good for 12 months, may not be worth it?
It gets issued a couple of days after the statement closing date of the $4,000 spend. The closing date for the account could be the day after the $4k spend is done, or worst case, 29 days later. So it easily could be a month before you'd get the pass, even if you did your spending quickly.

SD's gone rouge on these travel deals. No mention of the 5/24 rule! They want you to sign up and get the huge affiliate $$$. Keep that in mind. Any travel/Credit Card deal, big signup affiliate $ involved, and sometimes better offers are available elsewhere.
This is a nice little promo if you live near the SW hub and need a companion pass just for a year and don't want to do the simultaneous personal + business signup when the 75K+ points offer becomes available.

50k less points (80k vs 30k), but it includes companion pass. 50k points is maybe worth $750. It really depends on your use pattern whether the $750 is better than companion pass.
The website says "This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products. So, I assume someone who has a Plus card, for example, cannot get the Premier or Priority then?

If you've currently got a card, then you're probably out of luck. I cancelled my card a little while ago. I'll contact them in a few weeks to see if I'm eligible again. I think I'm slightly over 24 months from signup, but I'm not sure if I'm 24 months from when I earned the bonus.
It's back again this year. Get free companion pass after signing up for a Southwest credit card and spending $3000. Once you spend $3000 and your statement hits, you'll get Companion Pass until 2/28/25.
If you fly a decent amount, this can be super valuable. When I had companion pass in 2022, I probably saved $1000+ on airfare. Companion pass allows you to give a "free" ($5.60) ticket to your "companion" when you buy a ticket for yourself. There's limits to how often you can switch your companion.
Also note from the page: This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products.

Then what?
I thought it was APPLIED for the card within two years. I could cancel my card now and wait maybe a month and reapply.

But do a research on 5/24 rule first
