Saw this on the clearance section of local HD store, $63 with yellow tag, might be YMMV

If you're relying on BrickSeek, you might be mistaken. BS ain't what it used to be. And HD.com doesn't post Clearance prices.

I think these are a discontinued model. I've been waiting for my local Direct Tools to get them in stock and I havent seen them since last summer. Good luck to anyone that can find one, it's a nice price.

I snagged one of these a couple of weeks ago at my local HD. They had one each of the brushless sander and the brushless SDS rotary hammer at $63 each so I grabbed both of them. I went back and forth on the SDS rotary hammer for a bit but decided that even if it's one of those tools I won't use much, I'll be glad that I have it when I do need it, especially at $63.

If you got the 1" SDS, it is an awesome deal and unit. I got it and discovered all the things I can use it for. Its actually the most used Ryobi tool I have. The hammer can be used for chiseling concrete, tile, and to loosen hard packed dirt in the yard. I used to to make holes in my clay dirt to plant over a dozen trees and bushes. Also as a hammer drill into concrete,

He's not wrong.

I have this model.

It goes through a 2ah quickly enough to not finish most projects. You'll want to have several batteries on hand.

Also, it won't even work with some of my older Ni-Cd One+ batteries. In fact one of my older Ni-Cds actually failed while using this, but it was over 15 years old, old enough it was probably bound to fail soon regardless.

I pretty much only use it with my 4AH or higher, "high performance" batteries and even then I tend to favor the plug-in version most of the time, and EVEN THEN the plug-in has a tendency to overheat pretty easily.

It's a handy tool if you're on the go. It's not a bad product, it just leaves a lot of room for improvement. It's one of the very few tools where I actually regret having gone Ryobi even for the price. Otherwise Ryobi isn't nearly as bad imo as their reputation.

So why does one need this? I have a plug in version, and what I found is that this would be useful to remove a lot of material fast, but it generates a huge amount of sawdust to do so. I got a Ryobi planer, and it removes material but generates shavings instead of sawdust. Seems to me a planer is better than a belt sander.

I got this. It uses up a 4ah battery in 10 minutes. Had I to choose again I would have gotten the Corder version.

Oh man, the rotary for 63? I'd be all over it.

Yep, I have the same experience. And I end up using the corded one most of the time. It is still super handy for small jobs but anything that takes more than 5 minutes of sanding, my cheap corded one competes. Above 10, the corded one is preferred.
