He's not wrong.
I have this model.
It goes through a 2ah quickly enough to not finish most projects. You'll want to have several batteries on hand.
Also, it won't even work with some of my older Ni-Cd One+ batteries. In fact one of my older Ni-Cds actually failed while using this, but it was over 15 years old, old enough it was probably bound to fail soon regardless.
I pretty much only use it with my 4AH or higher, "high performance" batteries and even then I tend to favor the plug-in version most of the time, and EVEN THEN the plug-in has a tendency to overheat pretty easily.
It's a handy tool if you're on the go. It's not a bad product, it just leaves a lot of room for improvement. It's one of the very few tools where I actually regret having gone Ryobi even for the price. Otherwise Ryobi isn't nearly as bad imo as their reputation.

Yep, I have the same experience. And I end up using the corded one most of the time. It is still super handy for small jobs but anything that takes more than 5 minutes of sanding, my cheap corded one competes. Above 10, the corded one is preferred.
