You buy the blank out or dummy filter for this model. And just use the cheap inline filters.
I actually have a whole house water filter, so everything is filtered.. Parts about 100.00 then install. Filters I replace once every 2 years for $20. a piece.
Be careful for Lowes fridge install. They will only *deliver* and connect the electrical cord. They will not touch the old fridge if it has a water line. Delivery driver will say you will need a plumber to unplug the waterline. They also won't connect the waterline for you.
If you can unplug and plug the waterline, it should be fine. If not, they will just drop the fridge and go.
I called customer center about this. Apparently, they used to have excellent delivery system before covid. After covid, they outsourced delivery team and the customer service desk is well aware but cannot fix this executive decision.
Also if you are close by your kitchen sink. Then get the 3/4" inlet model. And filter yout sinks cold water and the refrig with same filter. I actually use a 3/4" inlet model to filter my whole house.
Do it for past 25 years.
Most new refrigs still need the dummy filter to pass thru water. And about all have one available. Sometimes have to contact manf. for this one time purchase.
Not something they advertise much. They make way to much extra profit on $50.00 water filters.

My refrigerator is a older Sears model and I use a inline filter from my basement(filter is in basement) up to the frig connection. I've been getting them from Lowes for years. But they were not in all the stores and the boxes always seemed to be messed up like they were returned. So a few years ago when it was time to change it I went to their site to see which stores had them in stock and was surprised to see that Lowes and AO Smith have a subscribe and save on the inline filter I use. It has 5% off, the military discount works, and free shipping. It doesn't ship from the stores, but from AO Smith(I think) in a nice sealed box. It's only $14.30 and a big reason for me to not want a new refrigerator.
