Some of you guys seem confused on the Powerstack batteries reason for being.

The advantage is that these batteries give your tools the Torque of a battery 2x it's size.

The battery also accepts 2x the charging cycles.

Also a contractor here. I love the 2ah 20v batteries in my drills and impact guns because the weight difference makes a big difference imo. I still prefer the bigger batteries in my saws (but I have switched to flexvolt for sawzall and circ saw). To each their own I guess.

Meh. Woot has a2 pack of 3ah for 70 that are new. So 20$ more for 4x the capacity

Bought two, immediately returned two. Date code on batteries showed a manufacturing date of early 2022. I bought a similar 20V Dewalt Powerstack battery from Woot last fall and the battery was fresh.

While technically correct, you're missing the point. For heavy-demand tools, the maximum power (in watts) from a battery determines the maximum performance of the tool. These batteries deliver higher power even though they aren't as high capacity.

You won't notice a difference in performance of a drywall screw gun ... but on a circ saw, large grinder, or big impact there can be a significant performance difference.

I received two from 2022 as well.

You think these batteries are fake or do you think they won't last?

First-timer with Dewalt batteries.

How can you tell when Dewalt batteries are not genuine?
Since it is sold by JB Tools (not authorized reseller), does that mean Dewalt will not honor the warranty?

What is the difference between this battery & a 20V Max 3Ah ($39 at HD) & a 20V Power Stack 5Ah ($93.84 at HD)?

Got my battery. Says 2022 27-47, which corresponds to the 27th day of the 47th week (Nov) of 2022.

It is not like I am buying fresh bread but is it bad if the battery is 15 months old since production? It is not used.

Am I missing something?

Usually for lithiums around 3-4 year mark when they start to loose some of their capacity BUT there are many factors to that such as how depleted they were during storage, if they were used during that time or not. In which conditions they were stored/used, etc. Bottom line IMO anything newer than 3 years should be ok but if there would be a choice I would still go for newest of course since they would last longest as well.
Some of my Milwaukee ones survived for over 5 years but you do start noticing the runtime going to 💩 vs newer batteries.
