Advanced Inverter technology provides stable 2,200-Watt power
CO-MINDER sensor offers protection against carbon monoxide
It's not necessarily a question of one or the other. It depends on your use case.
If your intention is backup power for your house, a battery/inverter setup will get you through X amount of time (depending on your use and your total capacity), and then a generator like this could be used to top off the battery as needed. Run silent on battery @ night, then top off again during the day (if you don't have solar, or if it's cloudy).
I noticed the seller has the "Honda EU2200ITAN1 2200W 120V Super Quiet Inverter Companion Generator w/COMINDER" on sale with a coupon, I think it is $1,039.20.
Does the "companion" work better in parallel? Is this a good deal?

It's not that it "works better" in parallel, it's required for parallel operation with another EU2200i non-Companion model.
Another user posted earlier today about how to run two regular, non-Companion EU2200i's in parallel. So it's possible, but not the way Honda intended I suppose.
I would assume there are some benefits to doing it the official way (regular + Companion). Perhaps load balancing, optimizing input/output of both generators. Not entirely sure.
Also the EU2200i Companion has 1x 30A outlet and one 15A outlet. Whereas the regular EU2200i has 2x 15A outlets.

The companion model isn't required; you just won't have access to a built-in 30A receptacle. That's all.
Oooooh.... My mistake. TIL! Thanks for the correction, and info! That's awesome. Because the Companion model is consistently more expensive, and if you don't need a 30A outlet then no need for it. Much appreciated.
Not really, it's pretty simple (and cheap!) to make your own combiner box with a 30A twist lock or RV receptacle. I've made several and they work perfectly fine. You don't really even need to use the shielded banana plugs, a couple of short extension cords plugged into the regular outlets works fine. I would recommend using them (banana plugs) though, because the regular cords can be a shock hazard if one becomes in plugged while running. You can get the shielded banana plugs inexpensively on ebay. Or just buy the Honda parallel cable and cut it in half.
BTW, this is a fantastic deal on the best small generator money can buy. Anyone even considering this should jump on it while they can. You could use this for years and still sell it for what you paid. Cant do that with a POS Firman,Predator, Ryobi etc.
For those of you guys trying to get it to ship to CA, don't, because it is clearly labeled on the box "Not for sale in California". You have to be very blind to miss that, no offense to blind folks.

Yeah... that's a bummer for CA buyers, but not a big surprise They're a legitimate seller and they don't want to violate state law.. Note that there are likely multiple agencies including police that could fine you for having/using one in CA, especially on pubilc land.
I've got a tracking code that indicates shipping from TN but hasn't yet been picked up (much closer than expected based on the earlier talk of CA-based shipping, but they do have their TN location too). Not my first purchase from MaxTool, and probably not my last.

Thank you for insides on parallel cable. Ever tried parallel two inverters of different brand?
I dont agree about this being fantastic deal. If you need to run it continuously for a long time (food truck, RV) - yes. But for emergency any cheap generator will be so much better deal. And for resale - I just sold 10 yr old noname HF 900W generator at 1.5x from what I paid for it. Electricity went down in the town and it was extra for me, my friends did not need it this time so it was up for sale, sold in 4 hours. Selling honda would have been more difficult at that markup.
Pay close attention when you get it and open up the box it'll probably say, Ronda made in China, and the instructions will be in Chinese😂
I can't believe people are down voting this comment… it's reassurance of what a steal this was! As long as it arrives, and it's legit, I thought the same thing, too good to be true. 😝
If everything works out… it's what these sold for 15 years ago. 😅

I only JUST got it, thanks to your comment LOL!
I didn't understand the post, honestly. I thought "Why the f*ck would it be made in China?? They're made in Thailand...".
But now I get it... Check the box in case it's a FAKE... "Ronda" instead of "Honda" . Love it.
Home Depot wouldn't price match... LOL, too bad, *ssholes. I'll be returning the HD purchased one. I have zero sympathy for a massive corporation like HD.
I think he meant it as a dig against the deal… but yeah, he was saying "this is too good to be true".
Regardless of how he meant it… it was/is the truth. These aren't gonna get any cheaper.
The old thread that showed $599 is like so many other threads with a bunch of TU… while almost nobody actually got the deal. In that thread people were driving all over even chasing $699… and couldn't find it.
This was a unicorn deal… with people actually able to buy. 🙂👍

Edit: As for country of origin... it's kind of hard to find, but GeneratorBible indicates Thailand: https://generatorbible.
