I have my own opinion and it mirrors with the majority... It's a gimmick but that doesn't mean it doesn't do anything. To me it just doesn't do a good job creating any sort of 3D immersion for me. This is especially true if you have uneven ceilings. It might work decently if your ceilings are decent height and are even. However, even doing a on-wall Atmos setup is vastly superior.

I get why they're there and what they are designed for, but is there a specific reason that you feel that it's not a good idea to do this? If I'm just going for a slightly more immersive 2.0 setup, are you saying that it would cause some kind of problem with the speaker or receiver?
I think you just answered the question and yes a receivers amp channels are designed to power one speaker not two.

Now whether it sounds good and or immersive that's a personal choice, not debating that.

Why don't we ever see B&W or Focal speakers on on sale here?? Wink
.
Do you know if this Klipsch 8000 is comparable with the B&W 603 / 703 ?

They do work surprisingly well. I even have slanted ceilings above them and I'm sure they would sound much better if they were flat.
I'm in your exact situation using a pair of 280FA in a living room with slightly vaulted 14 ft ceilings. I didn't expect much Atmos effect but surprisingly I'm hearing a lot. I'm not sure if it's the Dirac tuning but it really sounds like there's a speaker above you. Occasionally, however, you do hear it blaring sometimes from the top of the speaker, but that is rarely. I was a skeptic and said if it didn't work correctly I'd just disconnect the Atmos speakers and just keep the speaker for its renowned frontal sounds, but the Atmos speakers on top really does provide a good effect in even not so optimal conditions. Glad I got it over the regular Klipsch 280F, I'm assuming it will be the same with these.

Kinda a pain. Especially with heavy tower speakers

Is that because you need to go drop them at ups? Also do you have to pay for return

UPS came and picked them up, but still I had to carry them downstairs and then upstairs again. Didn't have to pay for return because they were damaged. Adorama slow on the service side

Thanks. I'm just curious if I don't like the sound how much I'm out of

If you like a bright sound with lots of treble like me, you'll like Klipsch. I do listen to a lot of pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae and a bit of classical and Jazz. All good for those, if you like the brighter side of those genres. Klipsch definitely do not give the warmer sounds that emphasize more the midrange than treble but they will still give you a wide soundstage, but more in your face than laid back.

I find Klipsch ideal for home theater though and if your emphasis and usage is more that than music, Klipsch can't be beat for the money/value to sound ratio. These 8000s at this price is a good deal but can get lower if you wait and monitor this site, but if you buy now I don't see you regretting it, if you like the sounds I just described.
