Pft. Mini Coopers are pretty cool! And the Panasonics can be a pretty good deal and have pretty great video stuff.
1. BMW owns Mini Cooper.
2. Panasonic's MFT sensor at least was produced by them (or by their old division). which is why i have their MFT but not their full frame.

this is just my personal preference , i tend to spend money on company that actually does most of the actual work.

I took what you wrote literally lol. The Mini is "not a BMW" The same way a Jaguar F-Type is "not a Tata"

-shrug-

And is it really the best way? Sony makes camera sensors for just about everyone. It's just a sensor chip. The rest is up to Panasonic. It's not like dashcams where they pretty much all use the same platform Sony used for point and shoot digital camera 20 years ago lol.

I mean, I don't hear anyone using this argument to buy a Samsung phone over an iPhone for the OLED screen, or for that matter buying a Samsung Odyssey instead of an Alienware screen (lol warranty). IDK.

How is the continuous autofocus? Still mad at Panasonic for the crap autofocus on my G85.
1000% better. The G85 is based on a Contrast based Auto Focus system, S5M2 utilizes a Phase Detect Auto Focus system which is on PAR if not better than Sony and Canon.

no, this s5m2 is a 1st-gen ospdaf effort by panasonic and by all accounts it clearly shows, they are nowhere near in the same autofocus ballpark as sony, and of course canon doesn't use ospdaf, so that is also a failed comparison.

a lot of l-mount lenses use cheap stepper motors, which in some situations like sports don't move the lens elements fast enough.

this is a lot of camera for the money, it would be most suitable for landscapes and such although at only 24mp even that is questionable, depending on the final delivery format... when you are investing in a camera mounting system it's important to be sure that it fits what you'll want to do with it in the future.

$1679.99 with 20-60mm bundle AND then free 85mm. No tax with payboo or whatever their credit card is. I think this includes an additional $100 off in my price bc of edu discount

Yup. Just bought my second body. That price is insane with no tax and student discount. This CC got me in trouble last time but hopefully I can be more responsible this time .

Great pro level camera, but if you're not a pro, the size and weight will be cumbersome. Not to mention Panasonic lenses are massive, also very pro oriented, hence the weight. Panasonic does create fantastic cameras and generally a joy to use. Even their stuff before phase detect was so great to use
