The highest I see these at a retail store is $50.
Hey, I would have killed for some super affordable "good enough" subs back when I was a poor teenager. Thumbs up from my past self.

These won't rattle the rear view mirror off, but a pair of these is still a huge upgrade for someone with nothing.
Use these to make a HOVEREZE for the ultimate home theater system!! https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...s.3081780/

PS - Forget about HoverBOSS. It's super weak in comparison.

Damn bro… need a hug?? Didn't we all do stupid stuff in our youth? You live and you learn 😉

I didn't say anything about doing stupid stuff. I was just saying that 500 watts is a b******* number. I used to install car stereos that entered in IASCA Competitions. Back in the '80s when the cheap Subs were pyramid, my father in electrical engineer would tell me what wattage really meant and that two or three Watts was more than adequate to listen at extremely high volume. I took electrical engineering and agree with him.

Actually these could hit pretty hard or should I say make a lot of bass/noise.., now they wouldn't last long while doing that prob before you blew them out. My buddy used to buy cheaper subs and would beat the hell out of them. Just remember when buying subwoofers and amplifiers always look at the Rms and not the numbers they say..
Nope, it won't hit hard because I have a system that's 500rms. It's decent!.
I was talking about rms. Lol.

This reminds me of my young punk days when I had a dual Kicker SS12 box in the back of my 87 GT Mustang. Eclipse cassette deck, a few PPI amps and some MB Quarts up front and I was rockin Woodward Ave.Smilie

Got a few JBLs when they were on sale. These are almost comparable. Perfectly fine for HT use.

I've been very confused by this looking at speakers... Why do some say 10 or 20 watt and similarly sized/priced speakers say 100 watt? I even see one just a bit bigger and more expensive that says 400 watt. What are the different measurements referring too? I assume it's not just lies.

It is usually the maximum amount of power the speaker can withstand. A better number to use for comparison is continuous rms, which you need to match to the output of your amplifier.

Unless you want to move a subwoofer in a home theater, which requires much more than a couple of watts.

EE degree in theory is one thing, real world (practical) is another.

My HT sub amp has dual 30amp inputs, at 120v nominal in that is 7200 watts. Now it's calss AB so not the most efficient, but let's say 50%....leaving me with 3600 watts out continuous. Using the storage of the capacitors on the supply, it can be quite a bit more for a moment.

If you think 5 watts is enough to get extreme high volume we must have very different ears.

As I said, 3600 watts for sub, and sub only.
Another 1200 or so for the Left, Center, Right mains.

Properly reproduction of dynamic music requires overhead. Reproduction of audio for movies, takes even more.

Yes... some of us can simulate shaking buildings and make you feel like you were subjected to ground penetrating radar.

These are good if you're thinking of adding a little extra to your car's audio without breaking the bank or if you're new to the car audio world. At minimum you'll need a box, amp, and wiring kit. Your local fb marketplace or the zon have all of that - maybe 100 for the basics.

Your HT amp runs on a 120v 30a circuit? What's the brand/model?
