I own this Laptop. Some things not mentioned in the specs:

Fingerprint reader in the power button for Windows Hello.
1 spare m.2 slot for additional ssd (2x total)
USB-C charging is possible up to 140w (with Lenovo's 140w USB-C charger)
Some reviews state G-Sync can be enabled when using the d-GPU only, others state this does not have G-Sync. (I should test this, but am not sensitive to screen tearing so I don't notice it to begin with).
Aluminum lid and base plate.
Charging brick is significantly smaller than the bricks for the Legion 5 Slim 16" model and others with a 200W+ brick.
Dedicated calculator Fn button (lol).

I also purchased an Asus g14 and objectively the screen, build quality, and cooling on this laptop is head and shoulders above the g14 - all without any extra tweaking.

On the negative side, this laptop has all soldered RAM, but it's ddr5-6400 at least. In comparing 780m performance between games with the 32gb version I ordered from Lenovo directly, I haven't seen any marked difference. Power users may see a difference in some specific use-cases.

A little review after owning mine for a while. I've owned lots of laptops over the years, including several MacBooks/Pros, Alienware, Spectre x360, and have replaced my Zephyrus G15 with this Lenovo Legion Slim.

The size and weight are excellent. It's lightweight and thin, and gaming performance is still very good.

When not in gaming performance mode, I regularly get 8-9 hours on a charge with office and web use. Definitely a solid workday laptop that doesn't look like a gamer laptop to the untrained eye.

The keyboard is good. The touchpad is fantastic. Superior to my Zephyrus track pad, and on par with MacBook pro and HP Spectre quality. It's accurate, clicks are perfect, gestures are intuitive and smooth - it's easily one of the best track pads out there on a modern laptop. This surprised me, as I didn't think the Zephyrus track pad was particularly bad.

The screen is where this thing leaves competitors in the dust. Getting that sharp of an OLED screen with the taller aspect ratio for $1100-ish, WITH a 4060??

Hella fine deal. I am very pleased with the laptop over all, and even 16GB should be good for the lifespan of the laptop for gaming and basic work, at least. I did pay a little more and get the 32gb when I bought mine because I do heavy video and photo editing on mine.

Games don't ever use it all, but video and photo projects gobble up RAM in a hurry!

Overall, highly recommend this laptop, and am happy to answer any questions about it, including comparing to competing models.

One odd thing missing is USB4. You're stuck with the included 4060 graphics since an eGPU isn't an option.

edit: one other odd thing - going from performance graphics mode to integrated only for max battery life requires a restart. on my Zephyrus it didn't, so this is strange and inconvenient to me. If someone knows something I'm missing, please let me know.

Watch out for the open box option. Bought the open box in excellent condition and it came today but the screen had scratches. Also I bought the G14 open open box last week too that also had display damaged. So, I returned both of them. I would just buy it brand new and wait it for it too go on sale again.

Not to discount your assessment but it's impossible for the trackpad to be at the same level of macbooks, the diving board mechanism is already a notch below it.
Can't compare this to G14 since this technically a 15 incher in terms of size already.
The trackpad on this is not as good as a MacBook or legion 7/9 imo

For sure! I use the included Lenovo software to completely disable the dGPU and force it into iGPU mode only, which requires a restart. What tasks are you doing on yours? You can dig into battery usage in the advanced task manager, too. I'm using chrome, edge, and office. Also adobe acrobat pro. That's about it when I'm on battery saving mode. I also set battery to "battery saver".
Thank you! Same office tasks as yours. I think the issue is that the dGPU is not consistently switching off. I will try the iGPU only method

I took one to work. Even though it is a gaming laptop, it is not a heavy brick and it is also very difficult to find a good laptop for work below this price. I tried something cheaper but I use 2 extras monitor to work so, at least need a good GPU and 2 screen connections.

What is your solution on fixing the always-on power led?
Search LightDims on Amazon. It's a sticker. There's an original strength and blackout version. I'm using the original and it reduces the brightness significantly. I also learned the fingerprint reader is still functional despite it being fully covered (I'm not sure if this will hold true for the blackout ver.?)

bit of an odd question, but anyone who's owned this laptop has any comments on the hinges? i see the base plate & lid are aluminum—hinges are also encased aluminum or plastic? had some bad experiences with lenovo, one of them being that the plastic hinges broke and had to get the whole screen replaced lol.

I either don't notice it or I don't play games that are demanding enough to cause cause it. I don't play FPS games either, so that's probably why I've never noticed it. I play racing, RTS and city building games.

Just got mine in the mail today. Beautiful screen and great form factor. Saw the dell G15 deal today with same specs but larger 15" screen 1080p and much heavier for 200 less but this is still a better deal

Thanks for this information. I was not going to buy this initially since I was worried about the soldered 16gb but you are right I don't really need the extra 16gb for just pure gaming. Picked it up yesterday and I am loving the weight and the screen.

I appreciate all the insights that have been posted. I was between this and the G14 that's also posted here https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/t/17316829

This isn't my primary gamer, just a decent machine that I can travel with. I don't need a 4070, but I did need the dedicated GPU, and I also don't think I need more than 16GB.

I also just think this looks better than the G14, especially while working in an open office environment, and I've always had great luck with Lenovo. Every Lenovo I've had for the last 10 years is still running great. Just my experience.

Looking at mine now and the hinges seems to be made out of the same material as the rest of the laptop. It's great quality all around. I replaced my old work laptop with this and I cannot believe how much quicker it is. I'm a gamer too so I cannot wait to sneak in a few games of rocket league here and there through out the day. The screen is unreal. I have a 1440p IPS as my secondary and this OLED looks a million times better

Looking to buy something to bring to LANs instead of my main desktop(i9 w/ 3080).

Current rotation with friends is Apex Legends, LOL and Age of Empires II. Sometimes we'll go in on random games at the LAN.

Is this the one? I was looking for a min 4060 under $1k but I don't mind stretching it.

Since I use my desktop 99% of time, this will really be used for LANs and brought on trips.

Any reccos for a sub $800 range? I'd be ok with saving 25% of my budget for something that won't be utilized as often.

This would run those games no problem
