I can confirm this works. We just came back from Wonder of the Seas 2 weeks ago. I had about 6 devices connected. Also worked on previous cruises on RCCL dating back to last year Oasis, Harmony, Mariner...
Thank you so much. We just did a week on Freedom of the Seas - RC. And I kind of wished we could have stayed connected.

I bought this router few weeks for few dollars more. This is the first computer equipment I own that has no on/off switch. I feel uneasy to just unplug. I have had config file corrupted on some other router in the past when it was improperly shut down.
If you think one with on off switch would send in a shutdown -h , or init 0 to the board and wait for it to shutdown, you are greatly mistaken. they just cut the power. no different from you yanking the plug.

what's more important is to have a easy recovery process to flash firmware back when things happen, and i think GL did the recovery process part right if you ever have to flash it.

anyhow, the performance is day and night better than the MT300A

for my particular setup, without openVPN, i got about 330 Mbps, with vpn running on laptop (core i9), about 190Mbps, with GL and client both over WIFI i got around 90 Mbps, with GL on wifi but client on CAT 5, the speed is around 120Mbps (since GL will have to both transmit and receive in WIFI mode, the test over WIFI will be bottlencked by the wifi module not the processor). quite impressive.

This model supports EAP and allows you to log into hotel/school wifi network that requires login

$89.99 - $15 coupon = $75~ + tax
Does the cox-like hotspot login page require the purchase of EAP or wisp mode?

Grabbed one, I have the previous generation, I use it all the time, it is getting so it does not support the latest features/beta software. Tinkering behind the scenes to make things work is taking to much time……My game plan is to use it as a backup/extender/file server or a drop box at relatives houses for easy remote repairs.

The new device I will preconfigure with my home vpn/torguard/windscribe/tailscale and adguard home.

These are great like others have said if you have a lot of IT devices and don't want to have to spend time configuring them all to connect to a given Wi-Fi. I even use it when I go over to friends and family members houses And have my tech bag.

The major advantage to this over your phones hotspot, is this won't use the limited data that you're given with a hotspot. And you have security for all your devices and remote access out of the box. It's ahuge time saver.

I work as a tech support specialist, with that said, please flesh out the advantages of using our Beryl AX router over let's say connection a USB drive to my friend's laptop and connecting one's laptop to their wifi to perform troubleshooting. Thanks.

good price. heads up that some fraction of buyers receive problematic units. So buying from Amazon is a good idea because of their return policy, just make sure you run through the paces in the first 30 days. I got one direct from Glinet and it was not stable, had outdated firmware and I had to return it on my nickel.

On the other hand, I have used several generations of glinet and the others worked well. (Mango, Slate, slate plus)
wren't these on sale a few weeks back,i think it might have been an older model or refurbs?

I ordered it on Sunday and got it today. But they forgot the free case.
Did you contact support?
The free case says it's only if you buy a certain model # and beryl AX was not part of the list.

Rather than needing your friend's laptop to act as a file server, you can plug the USB drive directly into the router for sharing files. For remote troubleshooting, the router can run a VPN server for you to connect to.

Not seeing any coupons on my Amazon Business account, so YMMV. The $31 coupon only shows on my personal account.
Likely YMMV. On my private account, the $31.00 coupon is on the product page. On my business account the coupon is on the "card" page. No way I can use both and either way, I'm paying the same price.

I do like the device, by the way. I actually like it enough to upgrade to a "non travel" router because of the new router having faster VPN throughput.

If you only needs to share internet, many old smart phones have such functions, my old LG G6, V20 does have the feature to share internet without additional hardware, also it has battery to help you move around

I really like this router. I got it for a bit more from a previous deal and have been using it for a few days now. The only issue I've had so far is setting up VPN using NordVPN - for some reason, it refuses to connect and throws an error no matter which server I use. It appears there's something in the ovpn files provided by NordVPN that this router doesn't like. I tried with PIA instead and the VPN connection worked like a charm.
make sure to use the pwd generated by nord, and not your normal login credentials.

Simple, Opened the package. The quickstart had a code to scan and a web page to get documentation. The link to documementation was obsolete and one version behind. I then checked the installed firmware and it was years old. I updated the firmware using their link and it was one major revision behind. Only after I ignored the link and did a search did I find the current version. Did a search when they released the current major revision and it was several years ago. Did a search when they started selling the hardware with that firmware and it was several years ago. So it was new old stock. I do not know how to ID the hardware revision, but I do know that they update their hardware like most manufacturers. So probably they have a list of serial numbers and hardware versions.

The way to tell how old your product is: check your firmware and compare to the current version. If it is current or maybe one minor version behind or two, it is pretty current. When I received my Slate plus (from amazon) it was 1 minor version behind. e.g. If V3.12 is latest, V3.11 is one minor version behind, V2.01 is a major version behind
Thank you very much for your reply. Much appreciated.

Hi,
I do not know anything about this router. Can this be useful to use in home also as daily router since this has built in open VPN and adguard. I am this question since everyone is saying as this is a travel router. Is this just built for light work for sometimes travelling? My question is, can we use daily in our home and use when needed to travel as well? I was planning to seup raspberry pi for using open VPN and adguard. Can this be an alternate and better than using raspberry pi?

Yes. It absolutely could and can work as a home router - especially for a small home or apartment. The same company sells several full-size regular "home" routers which are more powerful however on VPN speeds etc if you would prefer that. But there's no reason it couldn't be your home router as well, despite the "travel" monikers.

I haven't used a OpenWRT device in years, so been out of the loop on new developments. But does anyone know if I can install tailscale client on this?
