Samsung colors are a little more vivid and is slightly brighter, LG is a little more color accurate and has been producing OLEDs for longer, which you could interpret as more reliable.
Either one should be awesome. If one is significantly cheaper, than go for that one, because you'll probably notice the few hundred dollars saved more than the picture quality difference
The C4s and G4s are available for pre-order now. Retailers will know soon that earlier adopters are going to start buying those. Hopefully more Retailers will push to clearance these out. Come on Costco, Let's go
I have the 77 S90 and a 65 C1 / 48 C2.
Whenever the S90 dies, I'll be buying the C series to replace it. Why? Because of jitter / content smoothing.
The Samsung blows at content smoothing and that sucks. I'd rather have a slightly lower brightness, but a smooth picture.
Those are just my needs though, so take them as you will.

I hope 77" gets down to around $1,500-$1,600 and I'd bite.

In what way. Lg isn't Qd oled and Samsung gets brighter from my research. Also lg has Dolby vision which Samsung doesn't. Which is good for lg
People in the comments are going to reply like theyre enlisted soldiers in a brand war. But if you look at TV reviewers on YouTube or places like Ratings, the difference between these two high-end models won't be noticable unless you put the TVs side by side

You can haggle with the Samsung reps. I was able to haggle with them and with CB from other site as well as haggle, got the s90c 77 inch for 1800 after everything said and done. The s90c is going to be higher brightness overall (2000 vs 1000 nit) compared to the LG C series because of the fact that the Samsung is a QD OLED gen 2 panel
