Charging 4x is not an issue with two batteries.
Calling these machines "trash" is still extremely hyperbolic and helps no one. No solution is perfect; my parents are elderly but still enjoy the exercise of mowing the lawn; not having to clear out seasonal gas, clean out carbs, and push around heavy machines is a boon to them, so electric is ideal for them.

You like claiming "hyperbole" but use your own hyperbole to "disprove" it? If you are so adamant in your superiority, use data. It is factual to claim Kentucky Bluegrass is a thinner grass than St. Augustine. It is factual to claim you're barely trimming your gas if you're mowing every week. Your response to my claims was "N-n-no it works fine I've seen it!"
A very good Honda self-propelled gas push mower is $50 cheaper than this unit [homedepot.com]. This is a waste of time (if you only have one battery) and money (If you buy the extra batteries for the insane premium).
I bought an ego power plus sp in 2021. I ordered this due to the deal with the batteries. I haven't looked back.
I enjoy coming in when done smelling like sweat, not gas and sweat.

How forgiving is the self propelled feature of yanking and pulling?
I got her a gas self propelled mower a year ago and I'm always having to buy new gear kits for the self propelled part.
(not picking on her. She is 85 yo and insists on doing all her yard work by herself)
it is very light compared to a gas. the propel might not be needed has much. however you could find a way to set the Pace of it. if the slowest works good you could wrap the dial up. that way she would not twist it on accident and possibly get hurt. It gets up and goes on fast.

They are light so I'd say you don't need self-propelled unless you have hills.
The biggest benefits I see in going electric are, in my particular order:
1) They're wayyyyy quieter (mow at any time without bothering your neighbors)
2) They're loads more environmentally friendly (no catalytic converter on a mower)
3) They're (generally) easier to push and are nearly invariably far more lightweight (easier to store)
4) They're cleaner to handle and don't give off an odor
5) They're safer in some ways. With the version I have, the blade stops very rapidly when power is disengaged. I didn't see that quick slowdown on my old gas mower. You can take the battery completely out to prevent any potential inadvertent activation/kids stuff.
That's right, safety 5th.
So there are some other factors to consider. I'm not mechanical by any measure so downtime and repairs figured in the bizness. Semi retired and I do still have my 24yo Honda commercial mower, mostly for sentimental reasons. I may be slower at my age but I'm reliable with quieter, cleaner and lightweight tools.
