Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

On buybackboss there is no option for MetroPCS, just T-Mobile. Which option did you pick for the carrier?
I sold my Metro phones after they were unlocked. But if you're selling it locked to Metro, choose T-mobile.

Did you delete the GV number from your account? After line got activated I had delete button active under google account.
Are we supposed to delete the number or not for fully porting out the number?

I wouldn't delete -- just wait it out few days since its a landline/VoIP number

GV to Xfinity Mobile port could take up to 5 days to finish when I did their promo -- no experience with GV to Metro

I have no incoming calls or texts. And only outgoing calls, no outgoing texts. After port in from GV to iPhone. Any way to fix this? Is the because port isn't fully done?

I had similar problem till i noticed name on order has to be linked to the address you use via something like utility bills so verify identity works properly. Then i ordered in family member name and it worked.
Then if you order with a family member, don't you need his/her credit card name and phone number?

nope privacy virtual cards lets you use any name and address. But Metro did ask identity questions after payment like how old is your father between certain age and between certain height on drivers license

I got iPhone 12 with iOS 17.3 out of the box. Definitely newly manufactured iPhones. Not 2 years old as some earlier posts were saying.

Great deal at $150 for a brand new iPhone 12, only issue is the 6 months unlock wait time.

Says iphone 12 was discontinued September 12, 2023 and iOS 17.3 released in January 22nd 2024 they have new method of wirelessly updating iphones without opening the box.

Folks - Anyone know how to find the zip code which needs to be given while porting from Google voice. Is that the same zip code associated with address mentioned in Google account

After I activated the metro line (received an activated email), I thought porting was done. I made a call and received an OPT code to login to the account. Assume all is well.

Today I went into my GV account, and my old phone number was still there with only the delete button (the unlock or lock button disappeared as soon as it was reserved by Metro during the order process). Today I deleted the ported-out number from my Google account and got a new number.

Will it unlock after 180 days in Jeopardy? I doubt. It is completely fine with me if the Google number doesn't send an email SMS or receive an incoming call (since the internet, OPT code, and outgoing call are working and the number is 100% registered with Metro).

After logging into the metro account, the GV phone number is listed, and the device name is Razr 2023 (so all looks good). What else do they need from Google now to port out? I assume their own network takes time to configure because my previous port out from Sprint and other nework were done instantly.
