Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

Previously, there are Metro Corp stores and authorized (dealer) stores.
Corp stores followed the rules to do the job.
But metro converted most (if not all) corp stores to private owned authorized (dealer) stores, store authorized (dealer) these stores always try to scam, upsell, worst part charge taxes on full price , not the sale price...it is terrible
I think you did the GV port for Razr 2023.

Have you received an email from Google saying your phone number was ported out successfully, etc.?

Do you still see your old number in your Google account, and only the delete button is available?

On my side, metro account listed GV number and Razr 2023 as device. Only incoming calls and SMS not working (receiving account OPT and outgoing calls).

This is 2024, not 1990. MetroPCS's online order system is one of the worst in the world. Nowadays I have never experienced an online order like this. It is a hit and miss, but mostly miss.

pretty much it should only charge after verify identity part so if it fails it doesn't charge anything. Instead whoever programmed it charges first then asks to verify identity.

You should be very happy to get that RAZR phone, so far I have spent $15 for 5 GV numbers and never got a completed order. Now I have 5 GV with only a delete button without lock protection on my GV accounts and they are all invalid for reordering at MetroPCS.

Don't worry, I was at the receiving end last year from Metro when they blocked me. I failed to answer, or it took too little longer, during the security question page, and it timed out.

Metro and many companies are using AI or some sort of auto-blocking algorithm to catch our errors and throw us out (sometimes it makes no sense at all).

FYI: Don't ever delete that GV while MetroPCS is trying to port your GV number and you got a successful order, otherwise you will be in big trouble if you hit the delete button. The GV number should disappear automatically after the port is successful. This one only apply to the successful order only.

I want to get that RAZR at $99 badly, but the fricken thing is I kept receiving unsuccessful order. I wish they offer $99 for a new number, then it makes me easier to get 1 eventually. Google will only allow to get another new number 1 per year.

Google will limit to 100 accounts for individuals, so be careful. Each google account you only get 2 GV numbers per year and that's it. Each GV number will cost $3 to unlock.

I received this message from Metro, like everyone else who did the porting successfully.

Congratulations! Your number was reserved.
Reminder: Your number won't be transferred until your new device is activated.

First, I activated the phone and logged into my account using the OTP sent to my mobile number. Right now, Razr 2023 is registered on the Metro network. I checked under About Phone, and the phone number is listed there.

Today I went into my Google account and deleted that number, assuming porting is done since I can no longer lock or unlock (only the detee button is available).

My main goal is to wait 180 days for Metro to unlock the device. I am not sure why Metro won't unlock it since it is being registered on their network. Also, I am not going to use their network after unlocking and inserting an active Visible SIM card.

Folks, anyone who bought phone from Metro 6 months ago having trouble unlocking?

I bought Stylus 5G 2023 and today is the 183th day since I got the "You did it! Your phone is active" email.

I tried the "Device Unlock" App.

Initially it says "

Unable to connect to the
server at this time. Please
try again later.

(SERVER COMMUNICATION
ERROR: ERROR CODE=502
MSG=SERVER_NOT_REAC
HABLE)
"

When I hit "CONTINUE". It says

"
You have not met the following requirements to fully unlock your device.

x Device must be used on this phone number for 180 days
"

The MetroPCS SIM is in the phone the whole 6 months. I have activated for 30 days. Used it to make phone calls. And then I let it expire.

Anyone in similar situation or have successfully unlocked Stylus 5G 2023 recently?

You are not supposed to delete your GV number while the carrier is trying to transfer the number from GV, otherwise you will get a problem on your call. No wonder now you get an issue. But in your case, you don't care about the number and just want to get an unlock after 6 months, so I guess it is ok for you.
